Bad_Rock Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 I just bought 5 Martin Roboscans 812 in mint condition. They came with a 2308 controller. I never used it so I'd like to know if it's still good or is it now kinda old? Regards.

The desk will do pretty much whatever you want with relative ease, once you figure it out. Some people say that vintage of Martin kit is old hat, but they'll give just about all current "budget" scans a run for their money. Non of that colours and gobos on the same wheel tat! They may be old and heavy and not the brightest around, but for what they were designed for, i.e. mobile disco/small club, they are as good as the next one in the same class.Oh, and they will run off standard DMX with a cross-over cable. The only downside is the "joystick" which does not move potentiometers but switches four microswitches.I use mine with a "playststion" joypad connected to the nine pin D socket, it has a much better feel.Certainly its elderly now, but not as old as me !.
