Not sure who actually manufactures them.. perhaps it really is Futurelite.

The fixtures look similarish, but if you look, the MH-840's have a different looking base. The menu/control panel is in a different position so is the cable entry.

Ive used both these fixtures before, other dis-similarities include a different rigging arrangement on the bottom & different functions.

Good to see Robe haven't had to start OEM'ing off their products to pay the bills, like many other manufactures have!

If your thinking of purchasing some MH-840's, id give them my thumbs up. From what I have seen they are good reliable heads for the price & are great units compared to other similar level (i.e. step down from robes, macs & VL's)

FL' Scans aren't too good tho :)

Can't speak for the big ones, but I bought some 250 washes a couple of years ago. Started with futurelights, then coemars, ending up with robes - and all were exactly the same mechanics, even the instructions were the same (complete with spelling error) - BUT, one had pan and tilt swapped around in the attribute order, making some tweaking of the avo file necessary which surprised me! At that time, Robe were making much of the kit for a number of manufacturers, and had only just started to market their own. Now, they appear from the outside, and the specs to be keeping their kit to themselves.

I don't see that the 575W range would have been different - so Robe Coemar and Futurelight in older models were most likely the same beasts - for the current ranges then you just need to download a manual or two and compare the specs.

Yes they were made by Robe. Fl discontinued them last year. They are a great "workhorse" and can be perfectly compared fixture by fixture to a Mac 600.
