Modge Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 I find "4 and a very little bit" amps to the kilowatt to work for estimating. You should probably work it out properly some time though....
Ynot Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 I find "4 and a very little bit" amps to the kilowatt to work for estimating. You should probably work it out properly some time though....To be pedantic  the ACTUAL amperage of a singl kW at 230v is 4.3478A, so closer to 4 and a half amps. /pedant Seriously though - ALWAYS do the math!
Guest lightnix Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 I was just about to say: since 230V came in I've worked on the basis of 4.5A/kW, +10% to give a bit of headroom.
MarkPAman Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 As nobody has said so in this thread yet, I'll point out that LED lights are a good way to go if you are limited to 13A sockets.
Pete Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 I do all my voltage calculations @ 220v, to allow for REALLY long cable runs!
