Seano
Have any of you got any of the laser levels, used to level truss and tell you the height? You're talking about two different products there.Self levelling plumb lasers, so handy for transferring marks from the roof to the floor & vice versa, have at least one beam (upwards), but more commonly now have either 3 or 5 beams. They don't have any measurement function. Probably the best value plumb laser for rigging applications at the moment is the (Pacific Laser Systems) PLS 3. Here are a couple of links for you:Hobuk Tools.Lumsden Stuart tools Suggested keywords to Google for:plumb laserLevelitePLS 3PLS 5Robovector Plumb lasers are still much cheaper in the USA than they are in Europe, so if you have friends on the other side of the pond, it might be worth a look. The most common laser meter for measuring purposes (by miles) is the Leica Disto. There are lots of different models, from quite basic units, typically around the 200 quid mark, up to much more sophisticated (and expensive) versions. For stage use, the most basic units do everything you'd be likely to need. If you google for "Leica Disto", I'm sure you'll find a plethora of companies selling them. However, good old fashioned analogue techniques are still the best when it comes to levelling trusses and setting their heights. Half a dozen surveyor's tape measures and a roll of pvc tape may not excite the technophile like a laser gizmo, but there you go. hthSeanx
Kaboom25
www.surveyingstuff.co.uk they do self-levelling plumb lasers and laser distance meters too. they also do a lot of theodolite-type stuff aswell but dont be intimidated by the site! the guys are really good to chat to about your requirements on the phone. If my memory serves me right they also do package deals if you buy a plumb line and a meter aswell. CC
