Clay Paky Miniscan HPE

Hi All,

As the topic says really. Anyone know where I can hire some Clay Paky Miniscan HPEs from in Surrey? I'm having trouble finding a hire co who has them.

I want to use them in a village panto I'm lighting, to add some more dynamics to the song & dance numbers. The Miniscan HPE is ideal for precisely the reasons Tom Baldwin lists here.

Anyway, if anyone knows where I can hire some or can suggest an alternative mover, I'd be grateful. Being a village panto, cost is a key factor.

A scan is preferable to a moving yoke fixture because the FOH bar in this venue is tight up against a "step" where the false ceiling starts, meaning that a moving yoke might not be able to fully rotate. The plus side of this step is that it masks the bar, so that (most of) the audience can't see what's hanging on it.

Lastly, whatever I use will have to be carried up a ladder for rigging, so can't be too heavy.

Thanks for your help,

Marc

Surrey Uni (Guildford) have some - try giving Ian Lipp a call.

Their details, plus the full kit list, is here.

I think they have 4, maybe eight - either way, should be enough for a village hall!

yup. try ussu hire. we have 12 actually. (though 6 are in the rig at the mo and will be untill tuesday night - live act night  )

call lippy and we should be able to sort out a deal for you as it seems that you aren't in it for profit too much.

depending on what you are after, we should be able to sort you out something suitable.

. pm me for more info if you want it

Hi All,

Thanks to everyone who replied to this!

By way of a quick update, yesterday I collected 4 HPEs from USSU hire, and tomorrow I will mostly be rigging them - and the rest of the gear for our panto! :stagecrew:

Cheers Blue Room - and let me be the first to wish you all a Merry Christmas!
