Dj Dunc
Hi guys/gals. Just a quick question. ive got a desk on order but whats the best desk lights for a behringer mx3282a. I recon littlite is too expensive for me but what about stairville? does anyone have a website adress for stairville? under 50 quid is the price range. :) Any help appreciated Duncan
niclights
I'm a bit confused. It looks to me like it only supports one lamp in which case nearly all desklamps will fit well within your budget. The only ones that might not are LED, but even some of these should sit around that mark. LED has the advantage of never blowing a bulb which is worth considering since repacement 5W halogens are not cheap. That said I prefer the incandescent output myself. Otherwise there's not much I can think of - they are all pretty much the same and do the same job. So, just decide whether you want LED or not and then find the relevant length with BNC connector. Thomann have both Littlite and Stairville at good prices.
bruce
I'm sure there was some discussion on a similar theme some time ago, and it was pointed out that at least one Behringer product uses a different polarity on the BNC socket from most other equipment. While this is of no relevence when using incandescent bulbs, it does make a difference with LEDs. For what it's worth, I use one of the cheapie ones - eg THIS from Tait components - but similar products are available from CPC, Farnell etc etc. Might be a "stageline" unit. If I remember correctly, the lamp is a standard 5W unit, available for pennies from any car accessory shop - they're used for interior and number plate lights etc.
Ben Langfeld
I need to find a light for a Yamaha MG32/14FX, and the manual states Do not use a lamp that grounds pin 2 or 3 to the shell (body). Use of the wrong lamp type may result in damage to the mixer. My problem is, £40 for a Littlite is outright extortion for a lamp. This for £12.21 is much more reasonable, but is this lamp suitable? Does anyone own one, and could it be confirmed that this lamp does not ground either pin 2 or 3 to the shell of the XLR connector? Thanks,Ben
Dj Dunc
Also can anyone tell me if a stairville 4 led lamp will work with a behringer mx3282a. I was also thinking about using a stairville 4 led XLR connector on channel one. is this possible if I turn on phantom power?
Freddie
I was also thinking about using a stairville 4 led XLR connector on channel one. is this possible if I turn on phantom power? If you mean can you power the lamp from a mic channel with phantom power, the answer is unfortunately almost always no. Dj Dunc
Oh right. I thought you could. I could have sworn id seen it done like that before. Ah well. How do the dedicated lamp sockets that connect by XLR work then? (like on the Yamaha EMX5000 which I use at school)
Ben Langfeld
They just put a DC voltage across two pins..... Nothing fancy.
peternewman
I could have sworn id seen it done like that before. They do exist, various people sell them on eBay, (and they've been mentioned on here before) which are presumably an adaptation of the existing ones, but running off phantom power as you mentioned for the lower end desks without dedicated lamp sockets.
