Testing analogue outputs

My amateur group has managed to aquire a Sirius 24 desk, which it seems is going to be our new desk for a while, as the money that was earmarked for new desk and dimmers seems to have been diverted for essential repairs elsewhere. (Essential? Pah! Who needs heating anyway?)

Now, this desk has a problem. We're not sure what, and the place that's given it to us can't really remember what the problem is either.

According to the label on the back of the desk, it'll output 0 to +15v at up to 5mA. So, I'm thinking about connecting 24 low current LEDs (forward current 2mA) up to the outputs with some resistors to save blowing the LEDs, with the negative legs of the LEDs connected to common on the board.

Can anyone see a problem with this idea?

Leds are not linear devices, The brightness isn't simply dependent on the Volts or current applied.

In reality a DC voltmeter will tell you more. (Maplin sell multi meters -uncalibrated- for £5.00 or so)

Can it be sent to its service agent for a routine service. They should be able to supply a manual if the vendor cannot.
