James S
As part of an upcoming hire we've been asked to illuminate a few portable toilets that are to be positioned in a field. (Building site type ones - the organisers couldnt afford event toilets/ trailer ones). I'm tyring to come up with the most cost effective/ easy/ safe solution as this isnt really something we keep in the hire stock :D Has anyone ever been asked to do something like this? / Have any suggestions? any ideas would be much appreciated. b1nuzz
do you mean lighting the area that the toilets are in, or lighting so that people can see when they are inside them?
James S
Sorry, should have been more clear: Both but we can manage the outside bit - thats straightforward Its illuminating the insides I'm a bit stuck on the best method for?
taylrr
Its illuminating the insides I'm a bit stuck on the best method for? They have White plastic roofs I believe, so by putting up a lighting tower above you should be able to light the area and enough light will go through the roof to enable users to see what they are doing inside.... adam5365
Ive seen these tardis type toilets just lit from above outside with halogen floods this covered the area around and inside because they usually have roofs designed to let in natural daylight
Simon Lewis
Furthermore, any light actually inside the toilet would... er.... illuminate the activity for all those waiting outside!
James S
A-ha. Thanks for all your valid points. I hadnt thought about lighting through the material - makes sense Thanks again
The Yellow Transit
we had an event where we had four toilets placed together in a line so we placed street light fittings (135 w about 3ft long) between two toilets on the roof with part of the fitting sticking proud of the roof so as to light the surrounding area they are water resistant ,so long as the colour isn't an issue they are really quick to fit just place them between the toilets we fitted cee-form plugs and sockets on then so we could daisy chain them together the first one had a photo cell on so they came on when it got dark
Jamtastic3
What about rope light lining the inside of the roof part of each toilet - it's pretty cheap and you'll get a nice glow when looking from the outside
