Kevin Robertson
Hi All, need a quick answer to this one if it is poosible.Show in tech at the moment and they have decided that along with all the cues that are cued throughout the show they would also like to run a LONG cue (about 30mins) on the other playback. I can't for the life of me remember how this is done.oh, it's the 520 by the way...Any help gratefully appriciated.Cheers Kev
gareth
[REPORT] {ADV SETUP} {SHOW SETUP}, then its the second item down.
SimonW
You can also do this on a single playback by using move fades. Advantage here is that the board operator doesn't needto know which playback individual cues have to run on. Plot your long cue as a XF (cross fade), as normal, then plot all of the cues which will run within it as move fades (MF), and make sure they don't have any channel information for levels that are changing in the long fade. I've done several shows now where this trick is used for sunsets, and close downs, whilst other smaller cues happen within it. Simon.
paulears
I always use Simons version - maybe it is my brain, but one go button is quite enough. My other desk has lots of go buttons - how many times do I hit the wrong one? Don't forget that when you have mixed XF and MF, going direct to a cue sometimes doesn't produce exactly the effect you expect
gareth
Well, yes, of course you can use move fades on one playback - that's how I'd usually do it, too - and I'm sure a technician of Kevin's experience knows that. But he specifically asked about using the second playback to achieve the effect, hence my response. It's all about making the answer relevant to the question ... :D
paulears
never let reading the original question put you off answering what you thought, they thought, was the question!P
LeeStoddart
And... Us (slightly?) less experience people now know two ways of achieving the type of effect.
b1nuzz
A moderator disagreement... :) But yeah, we know both ways now, so its all good.
Kevin Robertson
Hi All, thanks for the replies. We tried Move Fades but we had a slight problem during the tech of getting back to a specific time in the long cue. When we ran on 2 playbacks this enabled us to restart the cue at various times. This was the only reason that I wanted to run both playbacks.I was not the board OP, in fact I wasn't even on the show. I was asked if I had a solution, and that was my idea. I just needed a quick answer so that I could run in during a tea break and reprogram. I knew where to set up the 2nd playback, the question should have been how do I run a specific cue on 1 playback whilst others run on the other. I achieved this using the PB button. Worked a treat.Anyway thanks for the response. Kev
