Shez
I'm doing sound for a musical at the moment; we're using trantec S5000 mics with countryman B3 capsules. They're wired to the lemos with microdot connectors (I think that's what they're called...) and periodically, they seem to unscrew slightly and start crackling. I got a tightening widget with them and have been tightening them before every rehearsal but one always seems to work loose. As they're so tiny, I'm wary of trying to tighten too much in case I break them :) Any thoughts / advice appreciated. Thanks, Shez
WillW
If they are the connectors I'm thinking of, then what you need is to do them up fairly tightly then tape them up. Something like 1/2 width Lx or micropore works quite well. It doesn't permanently cure the problem but reduces the issue quite significantly. I originally tried to work out if there would be any way to loc-tite them, but couldn't see a way of doing it that wouldn't affect the electrical connection.
