Anyone know what this is?

(More worryingly, under the "Installation" button there is another button that says "Worship"; has Fred started a cult?)

My boss has had a look at the OS (although not the production hardware) recently while looking at boards for a new install - he was pretty excited about it, and reckoned it was a good Obsession replacement. Sorry I can't provide much more detail, that particular install decided to go with Congos instead.

That's exactly what I was wondering

nuance n.

1. A subtle or slight degree of difference, as in meaning, feeling, or tone; a gradation.

2. Expression or appreciation of subtle shades of meaning, feeling, or tone: a rich artistic performance, full of nuance.

Nope, still none the wiser here. Maybe it's something to do with the 10 definable motorized faders

Apart from that, it appears to be a pretty respectable bit of kit :(

Out of interest, does this mean the Congo will become no more, or will both consoles exist in the same market ala Expression 3 & Obsession 2? Obviously as the Congo came out Avab, I presume the Eos was already in developement at the time?

ETC are showing it to a few people at ABTT and it will be at Plasa.

Had a chat with the man from ETC last week. looks like a very nice desk.

They have put a lot of effort into getting the hardware right

including developing a new touch screen that registers more than one touch at the same time.

Looks like I'll have to get used to pressing go with the left hand again though!

Also had a look at the Alpha release of the Congo software which will include support for Media servers and some other new features.

It worked very well with ArKaos.

The EOS is advertised on all the ETC sites not just the American one so I'd say its going to be a worldwide release.

Interestingly, I asked the man from ETC about when they were bringing out their new desk. (when he came to train me on the congo shudder) Its always annoying when you buy one product and find something better from the same company was about to be released!

Of course the man from ETC claimed no knowledge of any new desk......

And the encoders on the congo are still p*ssing me off!

But if they told you about their new unreleased product, they'd never sell their existing stock of 'old' products.

Yes it is, but the Congo and the Eos both have a reasonable overlap in terms of applications for there to be some situations where it would simply be a matter of personal preference. They both have have different areas in which they excel and are best suited for, but for some applications (the college theatre market, etc) the differences are slight.

It strikes me that (by design) the Congo is a much more European console, and the Eos an American one - just by comparing the press releases ETC puts out, you can see that the North American Congo market is distinctly lacking whereas it's doing reasonably well in the EU. ETC are always going on about how the Congo has found great success in Europe, but you rarely see them trumpet a big US installation. I'd expect the Eos to far outsell the Congo in the States - it's aethetically more like the Express/Obsession type of console, and I'm told the interface is fairly easy to transfer over from the Expression/Obsession.
