Colin
Hello We have gotten a little bored and are looking at upgrading a few of our electrical devices specifically a kettle, the crew mascot (a singing lobster) and a singing card which we were presented after a show (sings "thank you very much"). We are wondering has anybody had any experience with wiring in DMX receiver chips, either for similarly silly things or for much more sensible ideas, also can anyone recommend anywhere we can get cheap chips? Thanks Colin

The Magus
What an excellent plan! I love to hear of people finding unusual, zany or idiotic uses for technology. It puts me in mind of a device (slightly OT) I cobbled together several years ago. Does anyone remember those pens one used to see for sale which incorporated a radio receiver tuned to pick up the ringing of a mobile 'phone, and which flashed an LED when a nearby mobile rang? My little invention combined the guts of one of these interfaced to what might euphemistically be called a 'female internal massage device'. When the phone rang this contraption buzzed and throbbed to much to the amusement (or consternation) of all around. If I took it to the pub I could guarantee that my 'phone would not stay silent for long. I never dared deploy it in public except in my village local pub! Returning to the topic, has anyone tried the DMX chips made by artistic licence?

jayselway
A friend of mine converted his stairlift to DMX. Not quite sure why. :)
