Tosh
Been looking into the Diamond III and wondering what people have used it for and what you think of it as a theatre board. Apart from the fact that it looks v scary, I think im getting to like it!
johnhuson
To be honest despite loving Avolites consoles they wouldn't be my first choice of theatre console. Although it has a theatre stack function it's not the most flexible in the world, I'm sure if you do a search for Avolites theatre stack on this forum you will find a couple of discussions on it. Are you also aware that the Diamond III is no longer a current product for Avolites so there will be no further software upgrades though they will continue to support it should it require repair. PDD
wondering what people have used it forA door stop? Seriously, I remember a particularly bad experience with a Diamond III on a theatre show. It was fantastic for busking with moving lights, but I wouldn't want to use one again for theatre. Besides, it's huge!

Just to clear something up, are you using one in a theatre environment at the moment or working some where that's thinking about getting one? Don
I Have used the diamond three as a theatre board, I dont use theatre stack, I write all cues as a chase and take the link function off, it works great. I have run panto's with 80 - 100 moving lights and a good 60 conventional channels with no worries, just make sure you have a back up, as diamond three to diamond two dosnt work very well.great for theatre if used right, if your worried contact Lindsey at avolites who runs the training, lovely girl, will talk you thought what you need to know. Go on try it - you will be surprised. the best rock n roll meats theatre board there is.
paulears
applogies firstly - my experience with avo desks so far has been pretty weak (a couple of pearl music shows - ok, and a son et lumiere -nearly ok, plus dreadful headaches with a couple of Azures) - I never figured out how to run into chase steps as your describing. I didn't find out how to go live direct to a particular step in the chase. Probably me being just not familiar enough with the damn things, so I'd love to know how to go from say, step 4 in a chase to step 8, without going through the others - no doubt really simple, but I couldn't work that one out.P
