Chameleon 1200dp Power Amplifier

Afternoon all!

Right - am having a little trouble tracking this one down... basically I need some new mains power switches for these amplifiers. I hear on the internal grapevine that the manufacturer has gone under, and a quick Google didn't come up with any useful contact details.

So - while I realise I could just order in the "nearest match" from a components supplier - I've yet to find one that stocks the switch I'm after. I can find plenty of switches that fulfill the electrical and connection specs, but nothing that has the holes cut into the push-button that would accept the custom switch-button face that Chameleon have thoughtfully added to their design. Admittedly I could just "re-shape" the custom face if needs be - but I'm likely to have lots of these to do so I'd rather find a "snap-in" solution rather than a "bodge-it"...

Also as I'm inheriting a shed-load of these in my new job - anyone else familiar with these amps? Any pros/cons/general faults I should be aware of?

Cheers,

C.

I Understand the Chameleon amplifiers were first made by Malcolm Hill, Since Malcolm retired and closed Malcolm Hill Associates down I would suggest getting in touch with his son Matt Hill's company. Perhaps they know something.

Failing that any sensible repair centre like LMC audio should be able to suggest a replacement part from somewhere.

Cheers for the help again people!

I've found another way... CPC stocked what appeared to be a similar switch, but sadly this turned out to be single-pole, where I needed double.

Fair 'nuff - broke into the old switches and discovered that in each case, one of the two switch arms had burnt through its contact pads. So - given the identical design and construction of new switches vs old, all I had to do was to transplant the arms and contacts from the new switches to replace the originals.

Job done, and we now have two more working amplifiers to add to our rig... :)

Oh, and yes, the amps have been checked for electrical safety before being reinstalled!!
