JohnG
Recieved a phone call from a student last weekend who attended the USITT Conference in Louisville TN U.S. She said she grabbed literature on the new Strand consoles. She was not clear on the number of consoles shown but thought 5 or 6 were on display. Wished I had specifics to pass along. She did mention they ranged from something hand held size up to a large desk the size of a 550. Again no mention of platforms, names or shipping dates in this conversation. I will talk to others who attended the conference and pass along what I find. Best, John G

mac.calder
And the thing that amuses me, they are realeasing a Mac and XP version of the OLE, but not a linux one... yet they are using a linux OS. I mean for me, it does not matter, I run XP in a virtual machine on my PC, but I had a little giggle when I saw that
Albatross
Finally !! Has anyone found a working link to the New desks Offline editor on Strands site? It would be great to be able to see what it's interface looks like ! ...and there's no working link to the Manual either. :-\
Bryson
Interesting. But is this a 300 replacement, or a 500? The specs (max 500 channels) seem low for a 500 replacement. Interesting design, though, and small footprint. I will definately be taking a good look at one. I guess the killer feature (for me - I'm shallow) is how those buttons "feel". This 300 is bloody killing me. A welcome return of the Pallette name. I just hope it executes...pallettes...well.

It's the attribute count that's going to hurt - max 1000 attributes on the 500 channel version according to thearticle. That's only 50 or so moving heads. gareth
Yes, I was quite surprised at the low maximum channel/attribute capability compared with the current GeniusPro limits on 500-series desks. Given those limits, I'd imagine that this new console is a replacement for 300-series, so perhaps there's something a bit chunkier on the horizon to replace the bigger desks ... MarcT
Only one monitor in that picture - I'd have thought for a 500 series replacement you'd have at least two...

Ian Ferguson
Having checked this morning I am told that these consoles are intended to replace the 300 series, not the 500 series.

peter
1000 attributes, 1 DMX out... does this mean we're going to be expecting more networking products from Strand?

stuartglen
you can't fit 1000 atributes in 512 channels but it says on strands website that the networking will be based on xml and is says it will be compatible with netwoking products from other manufactorors if it is based on linux and has usb ports, if we had the drivers could we use something like the ente usb pro toe provide an extra outlet? Bryson
It occurs to me that the product names leave room for a "superPallette" or "grandPallette" that could have more channels/vga outputs etc. The Silver look somewhat reminds me of the old Gemini 2s. I wonder if that's painted plastic or actual brushed aluminium?
