stuartglen
I've heard that the gel swatch books are very useful but where do you get them? Stupid question I know but I don't know the answer.
peter
Lee and Rosco, or their distributors.
Suzette
Or if you are not in a hurry, then a visit to the ABTT Trade Show in June (14th & 15th) and you can pick up as many as you want!
mac.calder
Lee and Rosco are free (which is great!), however other companies (like Gam) charge a bit for a swatch book (which is utterly ridiculous, and probably why not as many people are using Gam these days)
MarcT
According to White Light's (extremely useful IMHO) online store www.lxstore.com they'll send you one for free.Click on "Gel" then "Swatch Books". Regards,Marc
Rich newby
However there is a £10 delivery and VAT charge. I would stick with the lee and rosco websites. HTHRich

Stranger
You can often get them from where ever you buy your gel. You just ask for one when you buy gel, some places will try and charge you for them or be reluctant to give them away but tell them you do alot of lighting work and will be buying lots of gel and they'll usually give in. Just recently I went to trade show with a bunch of theatre students and we had to beg and plead to get swatches because we all look young, despite the fact the guy had a boxful of them and they're free. paulears
I can only speak for Lee, but they sent me a box of swatches to give to the students. At trade shows, students, or people who look like students spoil it for people by being greedy and doing a swag hunt - is it any wonder the stand people hide them away. EDIT I've just realised this does look like I've got it in for students - I haven't. The kind of students I'm talking about are the undesirable ones that nobody in their right mind would ever give a job too. To those decent students who want a career in the industry, and don't mind working for it - good luck to you!Paul

I might have got it from PLASA. And the last company I tried to order Gam gel from hadn't any idea what it was... <_<

Fantastic, less brutal than Lee, and not as confusing as Rosco.Would reccomend trying it, gave me beautiful results.I believe Whitelight stock it, and Lightfactor and SLX can get their hands on it.Used it 8 years ago, and just started using it again.Would be interested to hear any feedback.K. mikeyp
You can often get them from where ever you buy your gel. Last one I got was free from Hawthorne when we went there to get some gel - they just had them in a basket to take, if I remember correctly.... Freddie
...but tell them you do alot of lighting work and will be buying lots of gel and they'll usually give in...Unless you actually intend to buy lots of gel, don't say you will, there's no need, I've found. Both LEE and Rosco sent me one after I emailed them, saying I was a school student. Just be honest, and ask nicely...
