wycome5
Where do you advertise your tech company? I have been scouting around trying to find some new places to place an advert, I have one in The Yellow Pages and have done post outs to all the local potential clients. Any more ideas? peter
This thread discusses how to promote your business within the Blue Room. Other than that, what about Stagelink?
Rob
It's slightly off-topic, but you have to let us in on why you have a waxwork of Anne Robinson and why she looks like someone's tried to set her on fire?!!!
wycome5
Anne Robinson came from The London Dungeon and is an accurate waxwork. She was in a skip and is slightly dirty which is why she looks like someone has tried to set her on fire. That was the first show I used her on (pictured on the site) and she is a little cleaner now!
Pete McCrea
www.yell.com just landed me a new client. Other than that doing a good job a getting referalls is key. Also making other trade users aware of who, where and what you are is a good thing.
Doug Siddons
As UkSLC launches its new online directory, and touch local is hassling me to spend £400 to upgrade my entry, as are a fair few others as well; I just thought I'd ressurect this one and ask, that apart from the obvious word of mouth, do we have any thoughts on where are the best place/places to advertise our services? Chris Beesley
Have you looked into Google's Adwords scheme? This can be great for driving traffic to your website (giving customers chance to browse over your services etc)

Pete McCrea
L&Si classifieds are very good value IME As is getting yourself in L&SI hey Pete?! Linky. Always helps bolster a companies profile within the industry - Nice one! :( Got Andy our Business Development Manager to thank for that. And it's obviously doing as intended, as some one I've never met is talking about us. Currently sitting at position two on the top 5 stories. We currently use Google Adwords, and an SEO company. After that we don't pay for advertising in Yellow pages or anything such as that, as the majority of our customers are unlikely to use those sources to find the sorts of companies such as us. And it works fairly well, however a large portion of or turnover is through word of mouth and ongoing relationships.

stories
Hi, I was interested to read this thread when it came up again last week. Along the lines of the question I had been pondering asking.. Has any of the more established sound suppliers got any suggestions beyond Google advertising to help out the smaller of us, just starting out (in my case, trying to get the PA system I have, that does a few regular jobs over the year, doing a bit more and helping pick up some of the slack the freelance work is currently experiencing) on a more local than anything level, to get their names out and find some clients? What’s worked for you in the past? The Google advertising seems to be doing very little for me at the moment, tho is that more likely to do with the whole market been flat and people just not doing events (on the smaller end <400 ppl audiences) needing to hire sound or is Google ad’s just a cash cow? Anyway all thoughts, advice, comments etc.. appreciated Cheers s
