MarkClay
Does anyone know of a link to obtain a calculation sheet to demonstrate the suitability of a projector for a given room. I.e taking into account the brightness and contrast ratio of the projector, the size of the image, the brightness of the room and therefore the contrast of the image. Andrew C
Good place to start but perhaps not all the info you want.
videogod
I think there are too many variables to have a calculation tool. Perhaps you can describe your situation and we can offer some advice.
ampcats
the easiest bit to consider is the inverse square law - read the below link http://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/~barnes/ASTR110L...ersesquare.html this tells you how bright your projector will be, then if you have a photometer (luxmeter / lightmeter) available for between £5 and £30 on ebay) you can work out how bright the room is - deduct the room brightness from the maximum projector brightness at calculated size and you have the difference. the brain is fairly good at non-linear modifications to what we see - so a 5lux image in a 4 lux room might appear not any different to a 4.5lux image if they were not viewed in quick succession. I can't say anything as far as perception goes, we are all different - I don't like bright rooms, while my friends are always turning up the lights when they come round... A.
