lifeisacabaret
Hi guys, in a little follow-up from my post on the general board, I was wondering if anyone had some audio-specific info for the UK tour of Rocky Horror.....what mixing console? speakers etc? All info greatly appreciated:-) JG
Chappie
No idea of the desk, but I believe the system to be D&B Q series. Whatever it was, it didn't sound great last Friday!

Hiya...thanks for the reply. The tours only just started, so the sound crew are probably just settling in I guess. With such a high-end system as D&B Q, im guessing a high-end digital board out front....the cast and band are fairly small...a PM5D perhaps? Hmmm....looking forward to finding out. sheridan
hey, Hope this doesnt spoil the surprise.... PM1D, D&B Q series (FOH), Alcons(Stage), L'Acoustics (Fills), TC Electronics Outboard (Reverbs), CSC Show Control (MIDI Control and Sound FX), Trantec S6000 (Radio Mics).... Theyre struggling with vocals a bit at the mo because the director wanted all head worn lav's (4061's I think). Not really good for the level of vocal needed on this show....... Enjoy it anyway, the Mayflower is one heck of a barn, we'll see how the system copes! :-)

Enjoy it anyway, the Mayflower is one heck of a barn, we'll see how the system copes! :-) Brilliant- just what I was looking for! I did notice that the whole cast was in lavs (pictures on the timewarp site)- nice, for a non rock musical, but I wouldve thought the 4066's or 65's would have been better for levels in this type of show. I suppose in this case though, the director gets what the director wants. From the pictures ive seen though, it does look like a brilliant production design- slightly less cartoony than the previous versions- cant wait to see it! By LA on the fills....im guessing MTD108's for fronts and UBs. Thanks!
northernaudioman
Sounds like ( no pun intended ) the sound designer should have put his / her foot down. or The director should be able to take the advice and experience of the sound designer. Annoy's me when it isn't right in this day and age, no excuses really!
charlyfarly
I don't work in the theatre sector but have aqaintances that do. Seems to me that sound gets the last call, sometimes depending on the "enthusiasm" or knowledge of the Director. Happens on "club" installs a lot :( The lights look great but the sound... err...hmmm?You know what I mean
