kv2 ex vs dynacord madras

Hi Folks , I am investing in a new sound system and have decided to go powered(any opinions on this move welcomed) . the system is for a singer / guitar player, and I have narrowed it down to either the kv2 ex system using 2 ex 12s and 2 ex 12 bins, or the dynacord madras system , does anybody have any experience of either system which might help me make my decision, also a slightly unrelated question but im going to slip it in there, can someone tell me the correct way to tune a sound system in a room using a 31 band graphic , I am not a sound engineer , and am doing my own sound and everyone seems to have different opinions on this , so if someone could tell me simply how to do it ,or any web resources , gadgets or such like that would help I would appreciate it very much , thanks.

As an after thought what about the nexo ps 15 system any reviews?

Robin.

Just a couple of obvious thoughts.

The Nexo PS15 system is not going to be self powered so that involves an amp rack to lug around with two amps and a Nexo controller, plus speaker cables etc. The advantage of self-powered systems is that there's no rack and only mike cabling to worry about - all amps and DSP being integral in the speaker cabinet.

With the advent of new class D and class H amps the modules in self-powered speakers can weigh as little as 5 kilos (or less) making self powered speakers easily portable.

If you are a one man band I assume you'll be moving the system around on your own and putting the top cabs on speaker stands or poles - correct? Having great experience of moving 30Kg plus speakers around on my own (not any more that would break HSE Manual Handling regs, obviously!) you may be OK getting them on the stands, getting them off is another thing on your own. Its dangerous not only to your health and the public but also to your equipment. You also need to consider the size of vehicle you'll need for differing sized systems. The point of this is do you need a 15" driver I think your initial thoughts about the KV2 EX12 are a more managable package and that you might also want to consider Turbosound TQ-310DP and TQ-115DP which is a really powerful package but easily manageable by one person. Seem to remember there was a very positive review of this in Music Mart or Audio Media last year some time, plus I used them a few time for various events and have been more than happy with their performance in each case.

Also consider either casing (extra weight) or padded covers to protect your newly acquired tools of the trades and they should see you through many happy years

Thanks for your reply furry , I was thinking that the kv2s were more managable , however , I do have someone helping me , and a large transit van , so if the madras system was going to perform better those consideratioins would not be an issue, also the madras system is slightly cheaper .

Re the nexo , sorry somebody led me to believe this was a powered system .

all the best , Robin.

Although if you are using the system always with the same act/type of act then the nexo being unpowered is not so much of an issue as you can have a combined mixer/amp/eq rack and actually end up with less cables to run.
