cazmoir
Just wondered if anyone has done a production of loot, and how they managed to get on with the dead body?!** laughs out loud **! Thanks, Caz x
wycome5
I haven't done it but I run a halloween event and we have a lot of call for them! What sort of thing are you looking for? i.e. do you need a realistic corpse that the audience see or can it be in a body bag?
Jram
Off-topic, but where is your production being staged? Since reading it four years ago I've yet to see it performed :D
cazmoir
We haven't had the production meeting yet, but once I know I'll get back to you! Thanks. We're doing it at the Theatre By The Lake in Keswick...Its in the lake district!
Jemma
Hi Caz, Have you tried the fire service? I met a man called Lawrence in Wales (you can get his phone number from www.acottageinwales.com) who was making bodies for firemen to carry around. Not sure how realistic they'll be for what you need, but just a thought. Jemma x (PS Coming up your way soon - would be great to catch up!) mac.calder
most corpses I have seen made have used stockings stuffed with 'something' (beanbag beans, straw, newspaper, rags) and a stuffed shirt. You can either cheat, and use a wig or hat, or you can use wool to make a really cheap set of hair for the head. Use string to make 'sausage' like limbs. Tomo
See if you can borrow a mannequin from a local clothing shop. Alternatively you could bodycast someone. You'll need to find a supplier for the casting stuff and the proper way to go about it though - it's not only a case of wrapping plaster bandages around them. kitlane
We did Loot a couple of years ago and the "body" was played by a live actor and it was one of the highlights of the show. Obviously the actor has to be very physical. Just to add to the confusion, the same actor also played the police constable. We made (for the young male actor) an old-lady body suit complete with saggy breasts and grey pubes!
SeanT
If looking to borrow over a weekend or evenings, then St John's ambulance would be my first port of call for something that looks like a dead body, they might even do it for a charitable donation.
