stagey
I'm in the process of sorting out the tech kit of a company I've just started working with, and a number of the flight cases have knackered hinges and/or catches. Does anyone know where I could source replacements so I can do a fix to last till the company can budget for proper replacements.

Simon Lewis
Wonderful though Terralec may be, I would suggest dealing directly with a flightcase parts distributor. To my knowledge (I stopped making flightcases a few years back) the main people are still: Adam Hall and Penn Fabrication (now Penn Elcom?). The range of goods available will be much greater than that from a disco/MI catalogue. A little tip...If you have fittings that have ripped out, the grooved rivets will have taken some of the wood with them. If you have to drill out rivets, use a ~ 5.5mm drill. Then when fitting the new parts, use either a peel rivet (see here for example) or, use standard smooth rivets of suitable length with a 5mm hole repair washer on the rear side.Lastly, your hands will thank you for using an Lazy Tong rivet gun or an air operated system... ;-) Simon Drat! beaten by efficient, fast typers!! stagey
Thanks, Adam Hall looks like having suitable bits. As for the advice about dealing with rivets, not such a problem as the old hinges were screwed in (they're pretty old, cheap and nasty cases). I think some new cases will be the best thing in the longer term, but that will need to be costed up properly.
