erik10_4
A straightforward one for you guys. I have bought a couple of secondhand CCT Fresnels and notice that the internal wiring is different. The lanterns are standard T26 (T27) 650 watt GY9.5 types and, on several of the units, the live (brown) cable connects (via bridging terminal) ultimately to the larger of the female pin sockets, on others the wiring is reversed with the 'live' terminating at the smaller pin socket. The simple question is, does it matter? I suspect it may be important as otherwise why make the lamp pin connectors and holder sockets different sizes? I wouldn't be suprised if dumb question is answered before I have time make a coffee! Regards Erik <_<
Liam FitzG
Afternoon ErikNope, does not matter. It is nice to have everything all the same, but a tungsten lamp is after all just a very long bit of resistance wire wound up into a filament. A lot of lamp holders have no orientation. The lamp holders are not made specifically for the lanterns they are used in. There are lanterns out there with discharge lamps, using the GY9.5 lamp holder, and these could matter. All the lamps and lamp holders and lens' are all made for many purposes and the lantern manufacturers design their lanterns around those products in what they think is the best combination.
