Olliedem-c
Does anyone have any info on Class-d speakers? class-d.com I've never heard of them, they seem great value, maybe some of you have used them? link made clickable -mods
Hambone
"2kW Concert System" for £599? You get what you pay for...
johnnymurray
A lot of people have been raving about these speakers! saying they are great speakers for the price and not quite what you would expect from speakers at this price!
paulears
I've not even heard of them? Who are these people raving about them. One thing you discover early on making loudspeakers is that the cost of quality components precludes anything cheap sounding good. Mind you, I'd bet much of this is Chinese import - which can sometimes be good. I can't imagine buying an audio product without hearing it. Are there any on-line reviews we can read?Paul
johnnymurray
There are a lot of posts about these and suppliers of the speakers over at Mobile DJ Forums. (not sure if posting a link to another forum is allowed mods please remove if not)
paulears
Posting a link is fine - the site cheered me up quite a lot. I noticed, however that for every person saying class-d rocks, somebody else slated them - comparing the sound with very low-q brands. An interesting site - thanks! ojc123
We have a couple of these in our school rehearsal room and I sometimes use them for monitors if needed. I got them for £68 + p&p on ebay. They do a job. You do get what you pay for. I feel I got good value for money. I've had them 12 months now and I am happy with them for this application. They are 1/2" chipboard and would not stand gigging. The sound is great FOR THE PRICE but not professional quality by any means. I wonder about the 250W rms because they distort on our 200W system long before our Ohm 200W speakers distort on the same amp. I'm no expert on this and there may be other issues which I haven't thought about. They are cheap as chips and reflect it in the sound and build quality. Other stuff in their range may be better because these are from the bargain basement. I guess the varied reviews reflect people's experience of other equipment. Rich newby
I quite like this poll from the dj forum. They like peavy over turbo sound and hk <_< Im sure you guys would disagree! Rich
nothingatall666
I have some bass speakers from them... although I would prefer HK's, they do the job fine. and I run more than safe through them!
johndenim
I was very interested when first heard of these, if just to hear what they sound like. They are actually not that bad when you listen to them, I mean, when considering the price. As the guy in the showroom pointed out, ( he was smoking a roll up at the time!)the 'JAC' series are the better sounding cab, for an act just starting out I think these would be fine, or a cheap install in a bingo club or similar. Hey lets face it, if these cabs go down you can just buy some more! John Denim.
Andy Simmons
Does anyone have any info on Class-d speakers? class-d.com I've never heard of them, they seem great value, maybe some of you have used them? link made clickable -mods Interesting, one of the directors is Mike Soppelsa who I'm pretty sure, but not certain, is Charlie Soppelsa's brother. Charlie was the man behind Rauch amplifiers years ago and also did some work for Crest Audio a few years ago. I'm full of useless facts!
KevinE
I think the JAC range are made by Jiaxing Jinlada Electron in China, the part numbers are the same as the OEM's. webpage
johndenim
Well found Kev,Maybe we should all club together and buy a load! If Class-d can sell these for £115 a pair how much do you think they buy them in for?I also notice that Class-d put a badge on the front, and either change the driver for one that say's 'Class D' on it or they spray it on. John Denim. Edit: Could it be possible that this company Class-D, are the same co that make amp modules?
mostlyharmless
John, A Class D amp is a type of circuit, rather than a manufacter. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_amplifier#Class_D
