I am after some rgb par cans, to replace my par 56 cans, was originally thinking of led par cans but do not think they will be powerful enough, want to replace 12 par 56s with 4 rgbs, any body out there with any advice, also I have a q12 desk and a sirius 48 for bigger gigs, and want something small in size but as user friendly and powerful as the sirius, can anyone help . cheers,

Welcome to the Blue Room! I haven't got any advice on the parcans, I'm afraid, but in terms of a desk have you looked at the Frog range? They're similar to the Sirius in the way that they operate and the 24/48 version is fairly compact and if you know the Sirius you shouldn't have any problems running it.

unfortunately the frog range are beyond my financial means, im talking e bay/ second hand etc

sorry I should have made that clear, im looking at an alcora or a liteputer cx12 at the moment

or a q commander with extender, but not sure of their similarities to the sirius 48.

Moderation Note: Moved from General Tech Chat to Lighting.

For what it's worth, I like the Zero 88 Jester, which I believe is more powerful than the old Sirius (having replaced it with one) and it's got quite alot of features for it's price - about £700 I think for the 12/24. I don't know if thats out of your reach financially though?

I've got 4 RGB Par 64's . These have got 3 x 575w lamps in them . Good and bright but the colours are not as intense as gels . The coverage makes me think they are MFL I don't know if they can be changed to spots. On the upside , they have all the DMX dimming built in so cabling is easy . However on the downside the 4 I have were bought for an installation but were very noisy so they were taken out . I haven't had any noise problems since , but I still prefer not to use them just in case .
