GregB
I'm having a problem creating freehand drawings in auot CAD.The software just does not recognise complex shapes. Ive tried using a DTP (Corel Draw) and saved image as a CAD file type, this seemed to work well initially untill I took it to the machine shop for cutting. The computer running the cutting tool scrambled half the data and would only show strait line parts of the drawing. Anyone got any bright ideas how to resolve this problem? David Ripley
Hi Greg Drawing freehand in AutoCAD is quite simple, there are two methods available Firstly Sketch. This is only available via the command line type sketch and follow the prompts. You will need to play with the line increments to get what you want. You will also need to be aware of when the 'pen' is up or down. A second method is to use Splines. These is a line that curves through the points you define. Once you have created a rough shape you can pull it about using the Grips. You can also use RevClouds to create foliage etc. For Sketch it's probably worth investing in a Graphics tablet. In the AutoCAD sample folder there is usually a dwg file called Tablet that has all the icons and drawing area laid out for you HTH David AutoCAD Trainer, cad4theatre
