Herb2
Hi Folks. Wonder if you can help.I have a project that requires audio to be sent to 10 different rooms at the same time at different volumes from up to 4 different sources plus a mic for paging and a need for emergency overide from a voice alarm system.Does anyone know of a simple to use unit that will do this so I can have different volume levels in each room and periodically mute sound in certain rooms or do I have to piggy back a number of similar units. All I have found so far is a phonics 4 way which sounds like it meets the target but not enough outputs.By the way..stress... idiot proof (ish)!!!!thanksh
Pete
Sounds like you need a properly configured soundweb! From the one time Ive used it good if properly configured and not to hard to use once configured either. You need someone that knows more about the ins and outs to advise further thou. *Needless quoting removed slaps own wrist
timtheenchanteruk
Try TOA, they seem to have a very good range of emergency/PA systems, reasonably priced too, I beleive they do a modular system, ie as much or as little as you need This is their emergency evac/pa system, you can brouse everything from there, alternativly give them a ring, theyve been helpful to me in the past
Instantdeath
iDR-8 DSP system from Allen and Heath may be of help and TOA do a modular system as Tim says.
back_ache
* audio to be sent to 10 different rooms at the same time at different volumes* 4 different sources* mic for paging* emergency overide from a voice alarm system.* simple to use All I have found so far is a phonics In a word "Cloud", IMHO they are the daddy when it comes to zoners and will do every thing you want and more besides, unless they have a product not listed on their website you'll have to piggy back a couple of units, which is not difficult and is a small price to pay for a solution that ticks every box. As for phonic all I can think of is a phrase with the word "bargepole" it it. :) http://www.cloud.co.uk/products/rack/index.htm
mikeyzer0
iDR-8 DSP system from Allen and Heath may be of help and TOA do a modular system as Tim says. A second vote for the Allen & Heath. It takes a little bit of setting up, but once in is a very simple system for all level of user to use. Just choose a suitable controller if you want it local, or combination of controllers in each zone. An iDR4 plus and output expander gives you up to 14 outputs from 4 line sources and 2 mic/line sources, with built-in paging and emergency override. If you need to work from a contact closure from the alarm system, there is a GPIO interface, but this isn't necessary if you are talking about an audio output from the alarm only, which can duck all other inputs to all outputs when triggered. http://www.idrseries.com Mikey
phil dekked
And a third vote for the A&H ! We`ve just finished an install with an idr8. Lovely bit of kit .. TBH I haven`t heard the systems running yet ( I was just the cable on the install!) but it programmed up easily and I`ll be at the new venue`s opening night to have a play! .p. johnhuson
We've done a few installs with iDr systems, very flexible and nice a feature is that all the DSP is pre-defined, unlike the Soundwebs which run out of DSP as soon as you get a reasonably complex system. Having said that the Soundweb is a lot more configurable, and with the new Soundweb London's, the DSP capacity isn't nearly as much of an issue, but it's a pricey solution. Only problems with had with iDr's is with remote outstations. Having said that you mentioned that it needed to be simple, in which case I will add another recomendation for Cloud equipment, again we have used several on installs and they're rock solid and easy to setup. Although as stated above you would have to bus two products together to get the number of outputs you require.
