bruce
Try your local "red cross" - they often have this sort of stuff, and may lend it for a donation....
Suzette
If you have the money - Film Medical Supplies - 020 8961 3222. They have all things medical - they are Acton way - near all the other big prop hires companies
Stutwo
Maybe the Blood Donors association? They might lend you one in return for some advertising.
mac.calder
Try a hospital. They often have expired bags of saline (How saline can expire I will never know) and often have stands that they no longer need (Hell, I went to pick up some donated stuff and walked away with a hospital trolley (the sort they take people into surgery on)). Most hospitals these days seem to favour using automated delivery systems over using rolling variable hose clamps to control drip rate which means that the stands on wheels are often sitting in a store cupboard down in maintenance "Just in case". emsgeorge
If none of those can help, then www.999supplier.co.uk (data southern) will do some. I got a load for a local production. Drip kits were about £1.90 each, and the saline was £3.00 a bag. If you need to make it look really real, then get a canula, and simply take the needle out of it (which they do anyway when they put one in you). All that is left, is a thin platic tube (which usually sits inside your vein), and the connector. Looks VERY realistic when you add a bandage to keep it in place, and you can even angle the tube out of view, and feed saline into it. When done well, nobody should be able to tell the difference!.
