SMP
hi my names Paul :D and im thinking of buying a sirius 48. all of the one's I have found for sale need new internal battery's. What does this battery do? :) does any one know what type of battery this is and if its easy to fit? <_< id like to thank all of you for reading this even if you can't help and if you can it will be greatly apreshiated Thank you PAUL GREGORY :) - unnecessary formatting tags (centred text) and silly amount of underscore characters removed from post. Please, if you have something to say or ask, just type it in nice and normally - don't try to dress it up and make it look flash, all you do is make it look stupid and put people off reading it. SceneMaster
Don’t know the desk that well internally although have used it a fair few times. Anyway at a guess the battery will be for keeping the memory\the clock (if it has one, a while since I used one) while the desk is off. They are usually like PC BIOS batteries (although can’t be 100% certain as I have never taken one apart but a fair few lighting desks used them) they are fairly easy to get hold of and should be easy to replace if you are good with a screw driver. Suzette
The battery is for remembering all the cues you have plotted! If you have a Sirius 48 and no disc drive then the battery is essential. I'm sure other BR members will be able to tell you what other uses it has, but that is it's main job as far as I'm concerned. They are (as far as I know) fairly easy to change. I get mine changed fairly regularly with the desk service - just to make sure! I don't want to plot for several hours only to lose it all overnight............. Tomo
The battery for the memory card is a watch battery. The internal one will either be a little NiMH or another watch battery - most modern PCs use a CR2032 cell.
Martin
The internal battery for the Sirius 24 is: Varta NiMH 3.6V 150mAhRS code: 422-393 I think the Sirius 48 is the same. It is a little fiddly changing the battery on the Sirius 24 and it involves soldering. Also the battery for the memory card is: BR2325 3VRS code: 597-
Ynot
hi my names Paul :D and im thinking of buying a sirius 48. all of the one's I have found for sale need new internal battery's. What does this battery do? ;) does any one know what type of battery this is and if its easy to fit? I'm assuming that this Sirius MAY have been the one that was up on Ebay until the 14th, in which case it was being sold by my good self (and it looks as though you missed out on the auction - sorry). However, if it's a different Sirius, then here's what I got from Zero 88 about the battery situation (as the one I was selling was indeed advertised as NOT having a working battery)..... The replacement battery for the Sirius is a 3.6v PC Ni-Cad battery. You can purchase this item from us with a credit/debit card over the phone. 49-000-00 PC Ni-Cad Battery £16.00 Postage £3.00 Credit card charge £0.89 Vat £3.48 Total £23.37 Sales Co OrdinatorZero 88 Lighting Ltd Tel: +44 (0)1633 838088Fax: +44 (0)1633 867880I believe, however, that you can buy a more than adequate item from Maplin/RS/CPC whoever at a fraction of the price if you're interested in checking the lists out. All the bestTD
Nicktaylor
Two of the guys in Kings Langley did this one morning while we were doing a get out. The batteries came from Zero 88. Not that costly. I think they last about five years and then the desk plays up. In fact I think my desk needs this work doing. Not much use as it is

dirkenstein
Worth remembering that the Sirius 48 needs _two_ of the batteries as it's got two mainboards. The Varta part from RS, part 422-393 mentioned earlier in the thread is still the right part to use for this, and cheaper than the Zero88 original spare. Don't leave the replacement too long. If the old battery leaks on the mainboard you'll spend ages cleaning the crud off- and the board is quite likely to be badly corroded.
