dougalzeb
Hi. Any ideas on this would be most welcome. I need to have normal white milk (edible) to change to a black colour (edible still!) and then back to white (you guessed it still edible). Chemicals are pretty much ruled out and the milk has to pour in all of it's three states so colouring the bottle isn't going to work. Any ideas guys? CHeers in advance. landy
White to black is strait forward with food dye but back is a tough one. Can you swap the bottles? If you know a chemist they might have an idea which will work and be edible. The other thing is the milk could just be white liquid which night be easier to work with. Jivemaster
There is NO simple way of turning white to black and back again. Even a dye or even an indicator dye (think litmus etc) would have to be mixed thoroughly to get a uniform colour change. If there were a chemical pair for black and white I would doubt their food safety. Can you look into sleight of hand or trick props? either swap the bottles or get a bottle with two chambers inside, pour from either but not both at the same time. If each inner container has a spout and only a small air hole. the container with the covered air hole will not pour. Actor controls the pour by putting his finger on on hole or another. White milk -retail, Black milk -add caramel unless talent is diabetic.

TAFFY
if the milk's on a bottle wot about just one black side and one clear side? You can get black food colouring (I think), if not mix red/yellow and green should make black. Hope this help's
Tomo
Use two liquids - one black, one white. Both opaque. Make the containers themselves clever - when poured in one way, the white comes out, and another way the black comes out. There are several techniques to do this, but which is suitable depends on the needed appearance and the order of pouring. Magicians do this all the time!
