punk_metal_hippy
hi there! my college theatre are putting on a production of 'Lord of the Flies' & we need a flame effect for a burning brand - an actors takes a lit branch from one fire, takes it downstage to another fire & lights it. we can't use naked flame on stage so are creating the fires using lighting & smoke effects, so we need a simple but effective way of creating this burning brand. a couple of students have come up with ideas, but any more suggestions will be greatly appreciated. cheers to anyone that can help :D carmela
wycome5
Tin foil with an orange tinge to it (spray paint) or some orange leds built in to the wood. Do you need burning embers or actual fire?
Brian
I've literally just got in from watching the current RSC tour and they have a 'red hot poker' which is done, as far as I could tell, with LEDs embedded in the end of a piece of wood.

Guest AdamAgly
Embedded red/orange leds and some fire coloured silk pieces. Can get some simple flicker by wiring normal LEDs in series and parallel with self flashing LEDs, parallel comes on when flasher is out , series when flasher is on, bit frenetic combine with always on LED. Remember to put resistor between battery and LEDs. Hot melt glue good for building up ember type shapes. Adam
