Chris.

What is your online format going to be?

Have you considerred using your 002 for a dedicated protools suite and buying a second copy of Xpress Pro with mojo?

what recording format are you planning to use - you have your 600 cameras (no mention of viewfinders, or other bits an pieces), mixer, audio kit - so where does it go? whatever it is, you also need to factor in the cost of playback kit in the same format.

Chris.

I'm saying there isn't a neeed for an 002 if you only intend to use the station for Xpress Pro. Remove the 002 from the existing studio bundle. Buy 2 new crates 1 new mojo and 1 new Xpress Pro licence. AFAIR the Protools LE licence from the studio bundle authenticates through the 002 so you can transfer the software to a seperate machine.

As far as online/offline. You specificaly mentioned offline edit suites. What is your workflow going to be from picture aquisition (both studio and PSC) through to finished product. Where are you intending to perform the online edit (internal or external).

Just with regards to playback kit do you mean monitors etc?

Thanks Again

Chris

No.

What are you going to record studio output onto?

How are you going to play that back into your offline edit suites?

What is your online format going to be?

What is your workflow for getting an online finished?

I'm a little worried with your equipment choices - this seems overly complex for the size of your space and the skills of the ops - you have studio zoom and focus controls, but ceiling mount mobile pan and tilt remote heads - the lenses don't go very wide, etc - bit of a hit and miss list?

Playback - I mean this.

You have a production studio, you must have something with a big record button on it - maybe we're talking HD, DV, DVCAM, (mini and full size) or even direct to disk - nnovia or similar. You then have programme on media of some kind. You need to be able to then replay this into the system - as in playing in already edited material, so you'll need a minimum of one recorder and one player - two would be better. if these are recorder too, that's an advantage as you can use them for iso feeds and other things.

You have some decent video kit, looks like protools is going to be your audio system. how are you going to integrate these studio wise - sound in the control room is pretty bad, the people need audio to do the video, but the sound op may not be providing them programme sound all the time - you are getting more and more complicated, and from my FE/HE education background, where are the ops coming from?

At first I thought we were talking very low budget bodge it, now we've raced ahead.

can you give us an update of how far you have got and how much dosh is left - vt machines are not cheap nowadays
