back_ache
Why not use a cheap velleman solid state playback as sold by maplin, heres a link to one of the units they do http://www.designnotes.com/Merchant2/merch...&Category_Code=
Peter Russell
It may be worth having a look at Panphonics as an option for your speakers, they can make panels in custom shapes and print onto the surface as well. With regards to the playback medium I would recommend solid state flash playback, I know that Marquee audio and Sound Directions supplied a 24 ch. compact flash player for the Bruce Nauman installation at Tate Modern a couple of years back, this may be the kind of thing you after. Stewart Newlands
Have you thought of cheap DVD players? If you burn your AV effect as the menu track many units will play it in a loop, then all you need to do is cut the output in and out with a switch, this would work it you did not need a start point and would make it easy to change the sounds.
