James C
Seen outside the Marine Theatre, Lyme regis at the weekend: Kiki Dee (with, IIRC, 8 top-ten hits under her belt) helping carry a flight case into the theatre where she was performing that night. The cynical amongst us may say that she hasn't much choice, if she's not a big-enough name any more, but I say "bravo" to a woman is presumably singing in public because she fancies it, while probably not needing the money, and being willing to put in a bit of graft to make it possible. Any other big names you want to "name & shame" for being too damn helpful?
andy_s
well done kiki! quite a long carry, if I remember rightly, unless you have a tiny van small enough to get under the archway??
James C
It was indeed a small enough van - but all credit due for being willing to get hands dirty nonetheless
David Lee
I'll add Roy Harper to that list - he was there for (and helped with) the get in for his show at the cambridge corn exchange many years back, and helped tie the cyc up . Excellent guy.
Bryson
I've lugged flightcases with a guy for the Joe Pasquale show, and it wasn't until he spoke I realised it was Joe on the other end of the case..
Guest lightnix
Rowan Atkinson holds (held ?) an HGV licence and certainly used to drive his own show from venue to venue while on tour back in the 80s.

La-lala-lalaaaah! Mmm-mmm-mmm! (Only makes sense if you've actually seen a Joe Pasquale show ) Does Ray Tizzard still tour with him? And does he still do that thing with the rubber bands around his nose?!

gareth
That's incredibly cool. I'm genuinely impressed...Quite true. Remember the 'Trucking' song from Not The Nine O'Clock News "I like trucking and I like to truck"? He wasn'kidding when he sang that song. (Well, apart from the bit about knocking down bikers ... and the "crucial question" to the hitchhiker!)

Ben P
Well Rowan Atkinson is well know in motorsport for classic car racing as well - genuine petrol head!! I would like to add a director ( and a sort of name as well) Roy Marsden I think he used to be in a TV police detective thing (way before I was born!) He directed a show I was Prody LX for - was there for the whole get in, screwed the floor down, helped fly cloths etc (hemp house) and hold scopes for focusing etc... and it was not due to lack of staff either. truely great guy.
