  1. Hi, I have a christie m series projector and an ir remote (that works with the projector)

The remote has a 3.5mm jack socket and the projector has an xlr socket labeled remote. I want to join them together via a cable.

    Does anyone know

    A) the wiring for the jack to xlr cable

(I've tried sleave to pin 1 and tip and ring to 2 and 3 both ways round)

    B) if I have to turn this feature on in a menu on the projector

    C) any other reason it's not working

The manual doesn't seem to help other than saying to use the supplied cable (long lost)

  2. Thanks, Dave, most kind. We have a pair of 750 source 4 follows, but for this one production we particularly want too use a pair of 2k sils.

why, are the source 4 too bright ?

  3. What I found quite inapropriate was the way every news report finished with a fan who had traveled a long way showing their ticket and saying how disapointed they were. Not blaming the fans, but the journalists who felt missing a concert was more important ( better news) than injuries and deaths
  4. Large scafold towers either side of stage to suport the roof is a design thats been around for years, just not so common in this country these days. In theory its a good concept especially if the towers have a large floor area.

Its a bit like builders choosing a prefabricated aluminium scaf tower or erecting steel scafold on site. The steel scafold can be built stronger and to fit better, but requires lots more competance on site to erect.

What suprised me from what I can see in the pictures is that the roof does not appear to sit on top of the towers but rather apears to sit between them. To me this would seam to rely on whatever is clamping them together rather than gravity

  5. To #ianl: I think you would have to borrow DrWho's Tardis: I am near Africa and I can just see the airport desk attendant looking at the case and working out how many time your luggage exceeds the pre-paid size/weight! PS #timsabre it is not a Rolacue Pearl (thank you for idea): we are talking vintage here... One chase at a time of ten, editing channel by channel per step/memory (if you modify), but Plenty of Rolacue-memories and a disk drive (one show only)! Makes you think.

or a very long cable :)

you got a disk drive? I'm jealous. I've just got a blanking plate. I have no idea why when spending 12k on a desk you wouldnt spend the extra to save your show :(

  6. 2.The IMPORTANT QESTION; The Rolacue has/had a mysterious 25 pin DIN connector on the back: was that the DMX Pro-Patch output ? Analog Socapex is evident - we multiplex converted to DMX it when needed...

well a quick look through my rolacue 60 instruction manual suggests its for linking consoles in master/slave mode

perhaps we should get together and attempt rolacue "desk link mode"

the master desk will display "boss" and the slave desk will display "serf"

my rolacue was recently fitted with DMX output cards :) and the horrible power XLR connector finally retired in favour of a powercon

  7. personnaly I would avoid pinspots and profiles as I feel the effect looks very yellow and gives the impresion that you havnt dusted the ball lately , the abilaty to adjust the focus is also important, fillament lamps can leave you with lots of filament effects floating round the room

, I would always aim for something giving a much whiter light such as a discharge lamp, goldenscans, miniscans, scans without the mirror or pro 400s are all excellent but expensive

the abstract colour flood I suggested earlier is a cheap version (£100ish)of a pro 400 and gives a nice white (or coloured) even spot and can be run off a stand alone controller

I would use a minimum of 2 if the audience only see one side of the ball or 4 if they see all round
