I think this addresses that question perfectly.
although this is not a legal requirement in every venue (depending on the venue licence issued by the local authority, in most cases) -
IIRC there was a thread on this a while ago.
When I was doing a job in a receiving theatre they requested for insurance reasons that the iron be shown to at least 75% of the audience before and performance or event. Even if it was a simple in and out lasting merely 30secs to a minute.

We are looking for exceptional AV technicians to join our fast-paced team.
The ideal candidate will have a flexible can-do attitude, outstanding client facing skills and the desire to travel across the UK to help us deliver exceptional client service.
You will also possess the passion and ability to engage with the most current technology.
Role and Responsibilities
Traveling across the UK, you will deliver, install and de-rig the latest AV technology and will have the opportunity to work on varied projects.
You will have a keen eye for detail and will provide professional, technical on-site support to our high-end clients.
Hours of Work
A minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Overtime will be required as necessitated by the needs of the business which will include early mornings, late evenings and weekends. The ability to facilitate this is key, as the needs of the business are paramount.

Salary £17k-24k depending on experience
