  1. Thanks for all the replies. In answer to Tom's 'Why', he wants to, in his words, 'up the quality' of the concert recordings and I think he has been to some concerts where they have had two or more microphones at the front and assumed he could just double up on recorders. (Zoom H2n at the moment). It will be just to produce a stereo output at the end. He doesn’t want to spend hours on a computer putting it together. I think Chelgrains comment about them going out of sync over a period of time is also a good reason to go for a single multitrack recorder. I think a Zoom H4 with some separate mics may be the way to go. Any budget microphone recommendations? There seem to be many tips on choir recording on t’interweb, but all seem to want the mics fairly high and not too far away, so I’ll now look for some suitable stands. Paul PS. Tom - Concerts usually in Loughborough/Leicester/Derby. Tickets always available! https://www.vivalamusica.org.uk/
  2. My wife's choir conductor wants to record the choir using two recorders positioned either side in front of the group and then trying to synchronise the two together, (presumably one L and one R), probably using the timelines on a video editing program. Will this work? I don't think it will, as it will be impossible to synchronise the recorders and you will get all sorts of phase effects, but I may be missing something. I think two mics into one recorder is the way to go. Any comments & recommendations welcome.
  3. Thanks for the suggestions. XR18 - does this enable all the input channels to be separately recorded? I will look at the Tascam and JoeCo. Commercial application (for people who normally wear camouflage kit!) so reliability more important that price!
  4. Can anyone suggest a 16 channel multitrack recorder? 16 analogue inputs (preferably on the rear). 16 separate channel recording. Rack mounting (less than 3U). Digital timestamped recording. Solid state recording. Preferably remote controlled (preferably ethernet), with as few knobs on the front as possible. Reasonably rugged. Installed in a vehicle, but operated when stationary. Or could be a 16 channel digitizer that will feed into a separate PC. Any ideas?
  5. What we really want is someone to produce a DMX controlled RGB 'lamp' assembly that could be fitted (with a bit of metalwork modification) to an old spot or Fresnel lamp. The equipment could then have a second life. It would have to be cheap, though....
  6. Pair of PA speakers, with hanging brackets. Collection form Nr Coalville, Leicestershire. On ebay for £49, but open to offers from blue room members. ebay link
  7. I was also wondering how noisy the fans might be, so am considering PAR-180 High Power LED PAR Light - Qtx | CPC UK (farnell.com), which appear to be fanless. Has anybody tried one? How does it perform. I only want it for colour, as I have tungsten for white. In a community centre, approx 3m from the stage, so very different to what Ian W wants them for. But cheap, so is it worth a try? It says 60 degree beam angle. What does that mean? Is it to 1/2 brightness, or something else? (-3dB points, if I were considering an antenna)
  8. Some stuff on ebay that I am trying to dispose of for a community centre. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203628167848 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203628170053 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203628174299 Collection only. 5 minutes from M1, J22.
  9. Wanted, the SMPTE/MIDI/Remote/CAN PCB upgrade for a Zero 88 solution. Zero 88 Part number. 12-123-99.
  10. An old Furse Delta 36 way 2 pre-set lighting desk. Came from Ibstock school. Was working when removed. Uses FMX protocol. Not DMX. Picture Free if collected (west Leicestershire), or £10 postage.
  11. Lighting bars / brackets for sale. As shown in picture. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjnFkts1c7Y7il85-hsGZKg6tG60?e=br8SwY 7 off 800 x 400. 2 off 750 x 500. Steel. very sturdy. Painted black. £10 each or offer for multiple. Buyer collects from West Leicestershire.
  12. Wanted a case for a Zero 88 Solution / Leap Frog / Fat frog. Internal dimensions 800 x 600 x 150, or slightly bigger. Only for storage and occasional local transport. (it's Never going to fly!)
  13. Our local theatre group has been given 8 Quartet zoom profiles and 14 cantata zoom profiles. They were in a local cinema which has been refitted with some new lights. They look like they have been on continuously at full power, as a lot of paint has burnt off the lamp houses. That is not a problem, as they are not designed to be looked at. However, the reflectors in both sets of lanterns are in a bad condition. The Quartet ones are still silvery, but have a definite 'ripple' on the mirror surface. I have yet to try them, but suspect it will not make much difference to the light output. The Cantata ones have almost no reflectivity - they look like they have been sandblasted! Has anyone any suggestions on repairing/replacing the reflectors? Can you re-silver aluminium reflectors? Is it worth it? If the reflectors are not worth replacing, I was thinking of trying to convert them to LEDs. Has anyone tried this? I was thinking RGBA LED COB + Heatsink + PSU + DMX receiver. Any suggestions?
