  1. A few companies are producing various boxes which offer audio over Cat5 e.g. Rat Systems offer their RATCAT range, Radial offer CATAPULT, CatCore (Germany) have their range, Vortex Comms (UK) have their PBE-202.

Are there any others, especially UK made, that any of you are aware of? Canford offer CatKit products but not it appears, similar to the products mentioned.

Has anyone used these for some time? What are the pros & cons if any? Can you recommend any make based on your experience?

I'm interested because there are some jobs which only require 4 sends from the stage and although I have some existing conventional and small stageboxes, I like the compactness the Cat5 systems offer plus lightweight cable to suit.

    Opinions and views welcome.

    Thanks!

  2. Just found an image of the SB kit, and it's definitely not the same as the one on my Pac. Probably about twice as much metal in mine.

That said, mine is an early Qu-PAC from before the SB was made, and it could be that the same kit now fits both.

    Found a link

Thanks for your help with this. I'll try the uk distributors for a price first and also see if it may be viable to buy from full Compass in the USA - cost of shipping could kill that idea though.

    Cheers,

  3. Can anyone confirm if the rack kit for the QU-PAC is the same as for the QU-SB please?

It's not clear from the QU-PAC user manual if this is the case. I can see plenty of pics of the kit for the QU-SB but not the QU-PAC.

If anyone happens to have a rack kit for the QU-PAC which they're willing to sell, please let me know

    Thanks,

  4. The 3 x 12 (+ horn) speaker mentioned by the op was produced by Carlsbro in the 80's to a design by their Ivor Green if memory serves me correctly.

It was a very successful design, sold well and for many bands back then, was a great choice for a more portable PA compared to carrying larger and heavier horn loaded boxes.

I'm not saying it was as capable as a horn loaded system since they're different as chalk and cheese - low end wasn't earth shaking but adequate for many DJ's and bands.

The output was quite impressive for the size of the box.

Would be interested to hear the current design to see how it stands up to 'critical ears' today.

  5. When I was after some Line 6 spares last year I eventually found a helpful fella called Mark Wright.

He used to work for Line 6 and has some (limited) stock. Emailed him earlier today quoting the part no's you mention and he replied saying he may be able to supply.

His mobile no. is 07738 054642

Hope this proves useful to you.

Trying to get Beltpack spares in the UK is near impossible, I'm trying to get ,

    50-02-5010 4-Pin Input Jack (metal)

    30-27-0422 Battery Holder for TBP12

97-000-0022 Beltpack Battery Cover for TBP12

Can't find a UK supplier, Sites over the pond have them but do not want to deal internationally or have ridiculous shipping charges.

Has anyone got a contact name /phone number in UK

E&M don't want to know, they want me to send the pack in to have a battery cover replaced!!

    Sontec.co.uk don't return calls.
