Blue Room "For Sale" Forum
Terms And Conditions
This section of the Blue Room forum is for members to advertise second-hand sound, lighting and staging equipment (and related items) for sale.
Adverts for a value less than £500 should be posted in the Free Ads forum.
For a post listing items of a total value between £500 and £2000 we require a donation of £2 to be made to the Blue Room's funds. (Please note, the Blue Room is a not-for-profit organisation, and once our operating costs have been accounted for any remaining funds are donated to our supported charity)
For a post listing items of a total value between £2000 and £5000 the level of donation should be £5.
For a post listing items of a total value in excess of £5000, the donation should be £15.
We will only approve adverts submitted to "For Sale" once we have confirmed that the relevant donation has been made.
In order to make the above system of 'charges' workable, we are regrettably unable to accept adverts which simply invite offers for a piece of equipment - every item offered for sale must at least include a guide as to what kind of price the seller is hoping to fetch, even if they invite offers around that guide price.
Members may only post to the "For Sale" forum once every thirty days.
Please conduct any business resulting from adverts posted on the forum via e-mail or personal message. Replies are disabled within the Classifieds forums. Think of this forum like a classifieds section in a local paper. Respond to the original poster for any further information.
Please note that the Blue Room has no control over the quality, safety or legality of the items advertised, or the truth or accuracy of the listings. Do not assume that the offer, sale, purchase, export or import of any item is valid and legal simply because it is listed on our website. We are not responsible for ensuring that buyers and sellers actually complete a transaction. You accept sole responsibility for the legality of your actions under laws applying to you.
How to post a For Sale advert
In order to post a For Sale advert, you'll need to click on this link (or go to the down arrow by your user name at the top right of the screen. On the drop down menu you get, select Purchase Paid Subscription) and choose the 'package' that is appropriate to the advert you are about to place.Temporary notice: Payments are currently down. Please bear with us until we repair/replace the payment system. In the meantime, please message an admin via PM for temporary approval to post.
Once payment (if required) is completed, your account will be approved for posting a For Sale advert. Please note that this forum is pre-moderated, meaning that a moderator must check over your post and payment before the post will become visible. This process normally only takes a couple of hours, but please bear with us. From time to time we may refuse a payment and post, if we feel the advert is inappropriate or falls outside of these or any other Terms and Conditions surrounding the use of the Blue Room.
PLEASE REMEMBER: For the benefit of other members and yourself, please either edit your post or PM a moderator when your items are sold to let everyone know they are no longer available.

Blue Room Classifieds
Terms And Conditions
This section of the site is a service to allow Blue Room members to place classified advertisments.
The "For Sale" forum is for members to advertise second-hand sound, lighting and staging equipment (and related items) for sale. Low-value items may be advertised for free, and there is a sliding scale of 'charges' for higher-value items - please refer to the specific Terms & Conditions within the "For Sale" forum for further details. Members may only post to the "For Sale" forum once every thirty days. In order for us to be able to manage the "For Sale" section effectively, anyone wishing to post an advert (even if it's a free one for low-value items) needs to follow this link and select the relevant button. (Please note, the BR is a strictly not-for-profit organisation - we rely on donations to meet our operating costs)
The "Wanted" forum is for members to place adverts in order to try to locate particular items of equipment for purchase.
The "Jobs" forum is for members to post 'situations vacant' adverts - either for full- or part-time employment, or for freelance staff.
The "Situations Wanted" forum is for members seeking employment in the technical entertainment industry to advertise their availability and skills. Please refer to the pinned topic within the forum for details of the specific Terms & Conditions pertaining to the use of this section of the site.
The "Offers" forum is for companies to post special offers which are available to Blue Room members. Please refer to the pinned topic within the forum for further information if you wish to make use of this facility.
In order to manage this section of the site, the Blue Room has made all of the Classifieds forums pre-moderated. This means that posts submitted will be read and vetted by a moderator before being posted for public viewing. This process will be performed as fast as possible, but it is possible that there will be a delay of up to 48 hours before your post is made public. The moderators' decisions as to which posts are acceptable are final. If you do have any objections to a decision made by a moderator, please contact admin@blue-room.org.uk
Once approved, adverts in the "For Sale", "Wanted" and "Jobs" sections will remain on the site for 60 days - after this time, they may be removed at the discretion of the Blue Room admin/moderation team. If your 'for sale' item is sold before this time is up, if you obtain the item that you're advertising a 'want' for, or if the job that you're advertising is filled, please let one of the moderators know so that your advert can be removed from the site.
Please conduct any business resulting from adverts posted on the forum via e-mail or personal message. Replies are disabled within the Classifieds forums. Think of this forum like a classifieds section in a local paper. Respond to the original poster for any further information.
Please note that the Blue Room has no control over the quality, safety or legality of the items advertised, the truth or accuracy of the listings, the ability of sellers to sell items or the ability of buyers to buy items. Do not assume that the offer, sale, purchase, export or import of any item is valid and legal simply because it is listed on our website. We are not responsible for ensuring that buyers and sellers actually complete a transaction. You accept sole responsibility for the legality of your actions under laws applying to you.
We hope that this facility is useful to you. Comments and feedback are always welcome.

Commentsa very good 'Why' book as opposed to a 'How' book. A great insight into the thinking process of designA Practical Guide to Stage Lighting - Steven Louis Shelley
Commentsvery much focused on the practical details of lighting, from creating and scoping a design, right through to performance. It's very clearly and calmly written, with a slightly dry, understated style, for example on blackouts during plotting while others are working on the stage:"If it's necessary to see a fade to black, announce to the stage that this is about to happen, and wait for clearance from the onstage personnel. Anyone who can't contend with darkness at that moment will give you their opinion regarding your intent". He's not wrong... :) - Tom Baldwin

Blue Room "Free ads - under £500" Forum
Terms And Conditions
This section of the Blue Room forum is for members to advertise second-hand sound, lighting and staging equipment (and related items) which are for sale. It is also for members to advertise equipment that they have for hire (but see below).
Adverts may be posted here free of charge if the total value of the item(s) listed for sale, or the hire charge, in a single post does not exceed £500, or the equivalent in local currency. You can post as many adverts as you like in any 30-day period up to a total value of £500. Any further posts within 30 days must not exceed the same £500 limit (e.g. you can place one ad for up to £500 or two ads for £250 each or three ads for £100, £250 and £150 respectively etc.) To post in this forum, you must be a regular contributor, and have made at least 5 useful posts to the regular forums. The intention is to discourage people from signing up specifically to sell items. Adverts from people who sign up and make five 'empty' posts to get around this requirement will not be approved.
This forum is only for personal sales or hires of low value items. Commercial sales, and personal sales of higher value items, should be posted in the normal "For Sale" forums, for which a donation should be made to the Blue Room's operating costs. The Blue Room does not accept adverts from commercial hire companies or from people hiring equipment out on a regular basis.
In order to make this system workable, we are regrettably unable to accept adverts which simply invite offers for a piece of equipment - every item offered for sale must at least include a guide as to what kind of price the seller is hoping to fetch, or state "offers under £500".
Please note that this forum is pre-moderated, meaning that a moderator must check over your post and payment before the post will become visible. This process normally only takes a couple of hours, but please bear with us. From time to time we may refuse a post, if we feel the advert is inappropriate or falls outside of these or any other Terms and Conditions surrounding the use of the Blue Room.
PLEASE REMEMBER: For the benefit of other members and yourself, please notify the moderation team when your items are sold, by clicking the "report this post" button. This enables us to remove items from view once they have been sold.
[uPDATE 23-07-13]
To avoid this section becoming cluttered with old ads for stuff that has long since sold the following change will be implemented from today's date...
All ads, older than 90 days, will be deleted on a regular basis. If your item is still unsold at this time you are welcome to post a new free ad provided it still meets the above conditions.
