That's brilliant that zero88 still pack some brilliant tech at such a goor price. 

So I'm opening a new theatre. Fully LED and all units have RDM. We are grandma 3 venue. 

Standard rig and we also have to re patch for touring shows.

Is there any application that can Push fixtures address and modes to the whole rig via RDM?  Ie recall standard rig....

To throw something else in the mix. This is a venue in New Zealand, The impacts of covid in NZ has resulted in  a lot of techs leaving the industry, many of us moved into film. So now there is a huge skill shortage here.

Conversation with another regional venue say he been struggling to get new techs, and his thoughts are showing a 16 year old a fancy computer system vs a point and shoot  is that he more likely to inspire the next generation to pick it up. 

So.. 

Traditional -  

Pros 

• They do the job 
• Simple to maintain 
• Touring ops can use them

Cons for us 

• We loose venue seats 
• Possible noise from fans and magazines 
• Show are using them less

Automated - Manual System 

Pros 

• Using moving lights - so when not needed for follow spots can utilised
• No removing of seats 
• Can be used for back light as well
• inspire the next generation?

Cons for us 

• More things to go wrong 
• Touring spot operators may not be happy with the system

Things to consider 

if we went automated - are they quick enough on the fly? Can a touring op use the system easily?

Is there any venues who own a followme or robe system?

Couple of system I'm looking at are remotely operated by a person. So not auto tracking system.. 

Follow spot operator uses a joystick and screen to follow.. 

But I am worried it wouldn't be quick enough on the fly.. Yet to have a demo of the systems

So time to replace my venues follow spots... 

1000 seat venue receiving touring shows (musicals, plays, gigs and comedy) and community... 

Follow spot position means I need to take out seats, people sitting next to the spotters.. 

Automation, (follow me with control surfaces for example) I already have movers and I can shove follow spots operator control surface anywhere. 

Would a touring show be happy with a automated solution????

Looking for a box of tricks that will convert a SDI input to a Web stream that can be used on a internal network with no Internet connection..

Midrange prices really. An L7 or the new etc Fresnels are out of budget... Looking at around the chauvet price tag.

Other info is its a receiving venue, so fixture files available is also important.

Looking at buying some LED Fresnels. Full colour, trim hight of 7.5m

Venue closed in 2017 and mainly did conference work. Its now opening as a performing arts centre in 2022.

So it's hard to decide what suits its programme best.

Before everyone says go on try them. I have, I like both.

I'm really torn for which desk to go with.

Receiving Venue, and the normal community shows. I've got no other techs on my team at the moment as the venue not due to open for months. So I can't get there views.

So what is the industry views.

Interesting that the theme seems to be the gio is more friendly to use.

This is for an installed venue. Hmmm maybe a Gio and some larger external screens.

I've used the Gio for a while and I've never really liked the screens, too small. So just looking at a Gio @5 with a 10 fader wing.

Anybody got any thoughts on which is better?

A few months ago a saw a website that was a tutorial for being a HOD LX/Lighting Assistant. It had an interesting link to a piece of software that allowed you to record a performance and track cue and add notes...

Anybody got a clue of what that software is called?
