  1. Was it green or red though? If it was red it will either be a clock related or sample rate issue. Was it green or red though? If it was red it will either be a clock related or sample rate issue.
  2. Too big a risk in reality then.
  3. Those Thomann rack sleeves look great! On my larger Shure 4 way and 8 way racks I have them wired to 12 pair veam. Really makes for quick setup. Simply have a set of Veam tails at the soft patch or go direct in to the stage box and you literally don’t have to deal with any single cabling. How do you get on using multiple mics in the 2.4ghz area?
  4. Is the Venice F discontinued? I thought that was relatively modern :) But then my console of choice is still a PM5d.
  5. Used Midas Venice F series would do a good job.
  6. Is there anyone on here that is familiar with LightHouse R7-ER and the XGA Controllers? Like really familiar. Any chance of a phone conversation? Thanks. Jace
  7. Sounds like you need to buy more legs bud
  8. We just have flightcases full of each sized leg. Then cases full of each accessory. You either pick how many you want from each in to a smaller case or put the whole case on the van / truck for larger shows. A really easy way of keeping count. Put 50 legs in a box and weight it.
  9. A huge amount of them ended up in the Millennium Dome. The shipment was split between two trucks, because if one truck was in an accident and wiped out all the units, the factory wouldn't be able to produce enough replacements in time. The thing that seems to be the struggle these days is getting a serial interface with the correct pinning etc. I remember keeping one XP laptop far beyond a reasonable retirement date, simply because it could talk to our remaining Soundwebs without issue. If you can get round the interface issues, then they're an absolute steal at £100. We found that the 9088ii had a significantly lower noise floor than its predecessor, so it might be the one to go for. Yeah, I had a specific laptop for the stuff of that generation (still do somewhere) I remember a company called Lundy I think, used to make a nice cable for the soundwebs. Soundwebs, 366’s XTA DP226 etc etc all on bloody serial. Jump 10+ years and we’re all on standard networking for pretty much everything life is so much easier.
  10. As said above the cloud stuff is great. 15-20 years ago the Zone stuff was everywhere. How ever after the zone days the Soundweb days came and ohh wow did that ever open things up. 1u unit 8 in 8 out full matrix and on board DSP made the 9088xxx units some of the most popular units sold by anyone. The 9088iiss of which I consider to be one of the major technical advancements in the install industry for the past few decades. The 9088iiss can be picked up on eBay for around £100 these days. Softwares a bit clunky compared to modern equivalents. Modern days the Yamaha MTX series is mind blowing. I love the units!
  11. Sorry to say. If I were called in to do an inspection and found this section of Truss I would condemn and Red tape it if I trusted the rental house. If I did not trust them I would Still Saw the ends off. Welding and repairing? NO! If you want a repair you send it back to the manufacture. Of whom I would be fairly sure will tell you to just buy a new one. On the design specs of which have been signed off will not have a weld or repair halfway down a load bearing leg. Think about it like this. That corner from Alu-Stage is going to be £500 tops? If it gives way when and the structure is compromised, if people get hurt £500 will be less than the Excess. Let alone getting fisted by HSE. Please only take advice about rigging from people that are either A - Qualified or B - Vast experience.
  12. I own and operate a small production company based out of a £9000PA Unit in somerset (mendip council) I done the simple online application form for the £10,000 SBRR grant on the 6th April. We had the money in our bank in full by the 16 April.

    Mic choice

With regards to the active speakers, If she can afford to go up a range from the DBR to the DXR she really will notice a considerable difference. Although the active yamaha stuff do have on board mixers, there is no EQ as such and using small capsule headset units you will need some sort of EQ. I have pretty much all the leading headset mics in stock, DPA, Countryman, Sennheiser etc etc. The results you can get with some of these from a good engineer are brilliant. If its a dry hire where there is no component engineer we find the best results when we send the cheap shure units.

What about the QU16? Personally I hate it as I feel it could have been soooo much better. BUT!!! It will work with your current IO boxes, it has a similar interface to the GLD. ultra reliable, built very well and cheap! Plenty of local IO also to cover you for the time being. Forget the Zed range. We live in digital times now. Other offerings in order of preference for me at this size. QL1 (lovely) M32r (cheaper than a QL1 but not as nice) Best of luck.
