This is a complete shot in the dark, but something that has just occured to me...
When I was a young naive 18 year old I went backpacking round Eastern Europe. In Turkey we were completely bemused as huge glasses of milk were brought out for after dinner drinks.
A couple of days later we realised that it was a clear aniseedy spirit mixed with water.
You would only need a tiny bit, a bottle of Raki would do about a month I reckon depending on quantity. It doesn't stain (as we found out after a niavity had worn out).
