  1. Find a couple of options within budget and then get some for a demo. Shoot them out, both between the replacement options and with your existing cantatas. Possibly even invite the money people along to see the difference for themselves.
  2. Imagine Theatre have a couple of (possibly) suitable targets with spring loaded arrows available for hire if they'd work for you. Drop them a line at hires@imaginetheatre.co.uk if you're interested. Glyn
  3. I believe they're related to the Araf and Pergyl!
  4. I sold them to Ian before I left! I've been gone 6 years!
  5. Well I suppose it was electrically safe, after all you can't plug it in, so it can't be dangerous as far as EAW goes...
  6. Many Thanks Boatman, It's too late for me this time, but I've filed it for future reference. Do you know if the micros are still available? Glyn
  7. Just to return to this, we hired a system for last season, partly for budget reasons and partly for supply issues (chip shortage, but mostly money people not signing off until too late). Subsequently we've opted for the Leon Audio / Interspace offering and managed to acquire a second hand system. It was very close between this and the ETC / GDS, but for us, the use of XLR3 won out over the Cat5/ Ethercon cabling. Thank you for all the suggestions etc. Glyn
  8. Does anybody know where I can purchase a 19" rack mountable free running clock and stop watch set up without it costing mega money? Ideally 1U with different colour LED displays, but that's not critical. I can find plenty of timecode displays etc for the broadcast end of the industry, but nothing as simple as a clock! Many Thanks Glyn
  9. Doodsons became part of the Tysers Group of brokers.
  10. I toured through a venue (but can't remember where) that had 4 DMX tie lines from the desk position to a patch rack at the rear of the control room where they fed into a node which in turn fed another node in the dimmer room that split them out again. There was also a direct ethernet link into the network so you could do either / or... Its certainly possible. HTH
  11. If you think the shipping to Edinburgh is expensive, wait until you see what it'd cost to get it to the Isle of Man 🤑
  12. I can't help directly, but you also need to consider how the projector lamp / shutter will be controlled and how you play back the adverts. Who is responsible for showing the adverts, it may be fine if you have an in house op, but what if a tour uses their own operator? Is the spill from a black image acceptable or will you need a proper "black out". What happens if the projector isn't lamped on, or worse doesn't get lamped off until the next day? Will these adverts need audio, in which case you'll need a feed into either a permanently installed PA or into the touring desk, that you then need to ensure is left open for the interval. It may be possible to automate a lot of the process using arduino etc so that pressing a button will lamp on the projector, wait a suitable warm up time then open the shutter, run the VT, close the shutter and finally lamp off. Let us know how you get on.
  13. Opus Technologies appear to be Stage Electrics in disguise. Phone them up and ask for more details / a demo / a list of places they've supplied locally to you... G
  14. Is there a playback / submaster master fader anywhere that needs to be up but isn't?
  15. Does anybody have a truck winch they're looking to move on? Ideally with a trip counter but that's certainly not a deal breaker.
  16. Find a tame metal worker and get them to turn up a bit of rod to a 35mm outside diameter and bore a 28mm hole through the centre. Then just drill a hole in a suitable position to accept a bolt to hold it all together? (Coventry Fablabs?)
  17. Would something from Robolights help?
  18. Can you source Chauvet Cloud 9s? I've had good results from them, and they don't require ice or other external cooling.
  19. Afternoon Folks, A project I'm involved with will need a cue light system. Since this is a recurring job that's runs for a reasonable length of time each year, I'm investigating the possibilities of purchasing a system, rather than hiring. I'm away of the ETC / GDS system and the interspace offerings, but is there anybody else I should be looking at. I'm not too worried about analogue / digital, I simply need a desk mounted base station and 5/6 out stations. Cabling etc can be sorted once I know what system we're going with. Any Thoughts anybody?
  20. Just be aware of how big and heavy an Eos is. If you've got to move it around / in and out of venues etc I'd rather have a nomad, possibly with a programming wing.
  21. I think I've got what I need from a local source (aka Ynot) but I'll remember the generous offer if it doesn't pan out. Glyn
