  1. I have a pair of these that I am looking to sell, or exchange. These are in very good cosmetic condition and not the scabby pair currently on ebay. I am looking for a pair of 12" subs and happy to do a deal, or otherwise sell for £250 the pair. I am in Southampton and happy to drive upto an hour to facilitate a deal.
  2. I use these for adding weight to speaker stands. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Neewer-Photography-Saddlebag-Backyard-Transparent-4-Basic-Black-Kit/dp/B07XCP8XJQ?ref_=ast_sto_dp
  3. I do remember a gig at a London venue where we were invited to rummage in some kitchen cupboards. We found 2 pot noodles and a litre of Polish vodka. Luckily I wasnt driving. 🙂
  4. Another vote for E Foam. If you go for the Plastazote closed cell foam, they will cut it to size. https://www.efoam.co.uk/closed-cell-polyethylene-foam.php
  5. I use 16A (2.5mm) cables for the run and use a 13A-16A adaptor at ther front. Only 25cm cable, so no significant volt drop. A 16A - 6x13 at the other end sorts out socketry. I also have similar adaptors for 32A cables if a really long run is needed.
  6. Look at places that sell used office furniture. I recently bought some great mesh back chairs for £250 each. About a 1/3 of the new cost.
  7. I remember many years ago, a local EHO objected to my application for an outdoors laser show. His prime "worry" was it might be dangerous to aircraft (a reasonable assumption). I asked how he qualified his response and what actual dangers he thought the laser posed; and he couldnt provide any answers, but still didnt want to give permission. Luckily, I had already contacted the CAA (as required for outdoor shows) and had their permission granted. I showed their letter to the EHO and said if the CAA say yes and they know a lot more about lasers and aircraft then you do, whats your reason for saying no? He begrudgingly said yes.😀
  8. At Sellafield, I had to learn 7 different alarms. "If you hear the one that like a cross between an air raid siren and a U boat dive alram, then I suggest running really fast. Keep running, dont stop, then run some more". 😨
  9. In certain parts of the country, the local McDonalds getting hit by a rogue meteorite would be classsed as a disaster. 🙂
  10. What about using a "silk flame light"? A couple of those side by side might work, although they arent cheap but can probably be hired.
  11. Does the stage have a weight limit? 200 kids is a fair weight.
  12. Having used both in a club environment, I havent noticed glowing haze. Although sometimes I wish it would react to UV, it could be a lot of fun.
  13. Maybe build the fake nail gun around a compressed air blower. These emit a good "puff" of air then the trigger is pulled. and are quite cheap. Putting a 90 degree elbow on the end to divert the air shouldnt be difficult. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Professional-Adjustable-Extension-Pneumatic-Compressor/dp/B07RT4DYT6
  14. I agree the 4 foot flourescents are good. If you go that route, I would recommend one of the metal fixtures with built in reflectors.
  15. Lots of visible light with these. The 400w UV cannon is far superior.
  16. I insist on MP3s emailed in advance, or supplied on a USB stick prior to the show. Anything else they can FRO!
  17. If you do use a fan, place the fan behind (or to the side of) the machine, not in front. If you put it in front, it will get covered in fluid residue and dust will stick to it.

    Lighting PAT

For installed lighting, I used to do every year. But we would also drop the lights each year and clean them as nessescary as well as performing inspection and testing. If the lighting is being dropped and repositioned regularly, then a more frequent inspection would be appropriate.
  19. I am selling a pair of RCF Art 902-AS active 12" subwoofers. These are in excellent physical condition, as they have benefitted by being kept in a pair of RCF padded covers. The covers are also in pretty good condition, but one of the rer panel zips is broken and another has a missing tab (but still works). These are a feist little pair of subs and considerably punchier than the 702 version. While not as good as the TT version there is a noticable improvement to the 7 series alternative. These are also somewhat heftier in their construction (in a good way). I have appended the specification sheet. Price is £1000 for the pair. Obviously they will need collection and I am in Southampton. I am prepared to deliver up to 50 miles for £25. Happy to send photos if required. Thanks. SPECSHEET-ENG-SUB 902-AS.pdf
  20. Indeed. Although that box does provide 2 additional trays for differently shaped microphones. Apart from a custom box, any other solution will have certain compromises. Having gone with a custom storage solution before (not for microphones), if you change one item, then it no longer works as intended.
  21. I keep looking at this. Horizontal foam tray for mics laying on their side (agreed a bit wasteful on space) and a couple of trays for mics in their bags/pouches/boxes. https://www.thomann.de/gb/gator_gm_7w_tsa.htm
  22. When I was on the road with lasers and lighting, most of my maintenance budget was time rather than expense. Keeping lasers and waggly mirrors clean and dust free was an ongoing chore. I was also aware that new lamps were going to me needed every other year and these were the biggest expense.
  23. I did some interesting work in a nuclear environment a couple of years back and there were a couple of scenarios in the RA where (should all the mitigations fail) the response was to "run away and seal the door". The final act before performing the process was to actually walk the escape route and post a list of names on the outside of the door. Definitely something that focussed everyones attention.
  24. I would certainly be very happy with an RCF TT system. If you can get L'Acoustics for less the D&B that also has to be worthy of serious consideration.
