  1. I think Astera Titan or Helios tubes would be great for this. Or maybe their Hydra Panels if you need something a little harder. Full colour temp control with +/- green as well as the full colour spectrum. Egg crates and honeycombs available to control direction and spill. Lots of low profile mounting options available. Flicker free and good colour rendition for TV/Film Good control options via their excellent Bluetooth app or Lumen radio for wireless DMX or hardwired DMX through the DC power lead and their Titan Box. Built in batteries as well...in case you want to whip them down and take them on location. Really have revolutionised the film industry over the last few years.
  2. Not sure on pricing but Ayrton seem to have cracked it recently. The Khamsin is a great fixture. High End Solaframes are decent too

    LED Footlights

Probably not cheap, but Glasson Electronics make some very lovely dimmable LED lamps. Only snag being that you need their drivers I believe. https://www.glassonelectronics.co.uk/calesco
  4. If you're nifty with a soldering iron, you can make some surprisingly effective panels with lots of strips of LED tape stuck to a sheet of Corex and then wired back to an LED driver (DMX or nice simple twiddly knobs) very similar to the Litegear Litepanels. 24v bicolour works well so you can roughly adjust colour temperature. RGBW if you want to branch out to music videos ? Meanwell PSUs are reliably flicker free for filming. You can then use diffusion gel or grid cloth to soften further...stood off from the panel as stated earlier.
  5. Glad it went OK ? This is the one I use https://www.musicmatter.co.uk/e-mu-xmidi-2x2-usb-midi-interface?gclid=Cj0KCQjwu6fzBRC6ARIsAJUwa2TpIEmYvm-Wpy9K5DdcClntRyvhdMgbAT3WNbiY990jP-2E13ko6esaAp5-EALw_wcB Discontinued but plenty kicking around on ebay for not a lot of money. I've also got one of the cheap, generic cable based ones that works fine.
  6. You should be able to plug in any generic midi to USB device and do it that way. Usually the cheaper cable type ones that don't require any drivers work really well. I bought one for less than £5 years ago and it still works a treat!
  7. As a space saving screw driver, I can't recommend this highly enough... https://www.toolstation.com/wera-kk20-multi-function-screwdriver-in-pouch/p92236 I've probably used it every day, 5 days a week since I bought it 7 years ago and I'm still on the original bits with no issues.
  8. I've forgotten the name of it but ETC showed their new remote focus software at PLASA. You can draw a map of your stage/room and plot your lamps on it along with a reference point for the tablet/phone you are using as a remote. You then stick a corresponding QR code on the actual floor at the same point and scan it so the tablet knows where you are. Once that's done (it was surprisingly quick) you can then tell the lights to 'find you' and they will follow. I was very impressed by the accuracy. Although not it's intended purpose, they did reckon an actor could put a configured phone in their pocket and use the system as a follow spot. Obviously quite dependant on how accurate your plot and map are but once done it seemed much better than the robospot camera system.
  9. Jamie Shurlock keeps a lot of older Mac spare parts, maybe worth giving him a try to see what he's got stashed away for his repairs business. His website is http://jamiesmagictorch.co.uk
  10. I use the Enttec pixel range quite a lot and find it pretty bomb proof. They have 12v tape which is great for long runs without voltage drop. It also feels thicker with better tracks if you're flexing it quite a bit. They also have quite a nice system with their Pixelator as a central control hub and then P-Sats as power supplies that branch off it to be near each piece of tape. Perhaps a bit more pricey but very robust and scaleable to the size you need with the pixelator mini for smaller projects. Everything is on powercon and 4-pin Xlr. I buy mine from White Light for a fairly competitive price. Maybe worth a look if you haven't already?
  11. The Cintennas by Rat Pac dimmers, made for the film industry are great. They work with the Lumen Radio CRMX system and come either with a Lithium battery or there is a slightly cheaper one without that can be run off a USB power bank quite happily. A. C. Lighting sell them over here for approx £380 last time I bought some. https://www.ratpacdimmers.com/product/wireless-DMX-control/cintenna/cintenna-battery-rx-receiver/
  12. These are pretty expensive but quite nifty solutions designed for the film industry... https://cvp.com/product/cinelex_desk-tx8_transmitter https://www.productiongear.co.uk/gaffers-control-wireless-DMX-lighting-control-system.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwpavpBRDQARIsAPfTwizPlxKg_8RU-jiMISi5LnUGizrVm8ZaNTg7mhrkkqyuseE3o-tb4bEaAg6BEALw_wcB
  13. Have you tried asking in the Wholehog 4 users group on Facebook? It's full of Hog users, many of whom are still using Hog 500s and 250s,I'm sure one will have it somewhere.
  14. I did quite a lot of shopping around and ended up buying a Blizzard Lighting Buddah. Worth checking out, very similar to the Swisson but with a few nifty extra features. I had it shipped from the States and its still going strong after 2 years of a pretty rough life.
  15. Could you get close by using some Enttec pixel dots? The none diffused one are pretty bright! https://www.enttec.co.uk/range/pixel-gb/pixel-dot-gb/ If time is on your side, there are plenty of similar things on Ali Express etc.
