  1. I swear when I read the manual "Store + DMX" was the combination suggested, but yes - on a second check, "Store + Manual", which I have to say makes much less sense, was the missing link. All sorted now. Love the haze they make and how little fluid they use, but the interface is ridiculously finicky!
  2. I have two MVS on hire that steadfastly refuse to remember their DMX address after being power cycled. They both revert back to some previously stored address, so I don't think they're losing the value - it's like it's just not being stored persistently. I've tried holding store, holding store and DMX together and all permutations I can think of, but I must be missing something simple. Any pointers most welcome! Thank you.
  3. Thanks for this info. Will have a look into what you've suggested and if I have no luck I may message you about sending it in for a service!
  4. I have an old Unique hazer (older style with boxer shape and openable side panels) that has sat idle for a couple of years and now doesn't power up. Power is reaching the input headers on the pcb but doesn't seem to be progressing beyond. I can't see an internal quick blow fuse so I'm assuming that one of the boards inside has died, but if anyone has any suggestions to try before I send it away for a service I'd be grateful.
  5. If you want something based on Light Hack but pre-built, CueOne make this one. I bought one for a project last summer and it's very nice to use: https://cueone.ie/store/product/c1-lighthack-touch-black-edition#&gid=1&pid=1
  6. Thank you all for the leads. As often happens, the directors decided to go in a different direction so these are no longer required. During my research, I did rediscover "Ancient Lights" Clicky which has an excellent collection of industrial-looking units for hire - in case this thread becomes useful to anyone else.
  7. I'm after something that looks like this: Clicky Size is a little hard to gauge from that picture, but I'm thinking something where 4 of them would light a decent sized dance studio or workshop. Before I go down the route of sourcing actual industrial fixtures and retrofitting them with components to make them work for the stage, does anyone know of any suppliers who have anything ready-made? Or has anyone already made something similar for a production and would be willing to hire them out? Thanks!
  8. I've had some success lighting cycs with a line of Showline E-Strip 10s. You'll need a bit of a gap between the cyc and the units to avoid there being too much of a hotspot as their beam angle is only 20 degrees. They are however incredibly light at 7kg per unit, are RGBW so have good colour mixing, and as they are very lower power, you can easily power a long line of them from a single 16A, linking through in Powercon. White Light, CEG and other suppliers carry them in large numbers and they're pretty cheap (less than £20 per week per unit in my experience). (Photo of them in use on one of my shows here Clicky (though as a groundrow rather than hung)
  9. The OP didn't suggest they were factoring in their time though. The question was specifically about sourcing all the parts.
  10. When I last had to to this (in 2016), I was able to make 80 pendants of various drops including some imported Edison squirrel cage lamps for £800 - with components all source online, mostly via ebay. Broken down as follows: 200m of TRS: £100 80 bayonet lamp holders: £200 80 15a plug tops: £200 100 lamps: £300 Doing it this way, you're looking at around £10 for a complete pendant including lamp holder, cable, lamp and plug - which would get you 25 units on your £250 budget (plus a few spare lamps for the inevitable).
  11. I've had the 4 flash issue a couple of times with just a poor connection. Try unplugging and reseating the DIN connector as a first step, and then checking the connections inside the DIN plug too to make sure the contacts are still good.
  12. There are a few threads on the ETC Nomad Users group on Facebook which will probably get you in the right direction with this. In your Nomad shell you'll need to be using the loopback interface and you may need to try disabling your wifi. But take a look both on that group and the ETC forums as plenty of folks have had similar issues and were able to get it resolved.
  13. Hi all, I've been lighting a ballet as a favour to a producer friend for the past 6 years each summer and due to other commitments it's now time for me to hand the baton over to someone else. It's an annual event, occuring in the 2nd week of August each year. The venue is a hall in the village of St Margaret's at Cliffe near Dover and the show is an abridged version of a classical ballet, with a cast assembled from a local dance school with a couple of professional dancers leading. There is a budget to hire in lighting, and in previous years I have specced a mostly LED moving light rig which suits this space perfectly. The show and space may be small but there is a history of very high production standards and I would be looking for whoever takes this on to maintain those. There is a fee of around £400 for the week all inclusive, so it would suit someone local, possibly at the start of their career who would like to build on their experience and maybe light some dance for the first time. I'm looking for someone to take this on as an ongoing commitment. This year, you'd be assisting and shadowing me with the design and taking over to run the shows. Next year, it would be all yours. Please either drop me a message back on here or via email to andrewellislx@me.com if this is of interest.
