pete10uk
I'm in the process of making a few SDI cables as I'm fed up with the Video companies who want to connect to my vision mixer turning up with botched BNC cables. I've just purchased some nice Van Damm Cable, Schill drums and Neurtrik BNC's and wrongly assumed that 1 of my 3 pairs of Crimp tools would have the correct sized die. I need 7.36mm (0.289") and 1.7mm (0.066") as stated on the Crimp Packet However I can't find anything exact, even Neutrik ones at £200 Any ideas? or am I going to have to do some Dremeling? I'm hoping a £20 one from somewhere will do! Checked CPC but can't find the correct size.
Brian
I'm in the process of making a few SDI cables... Probably cheaper to buy different BNCs! I think a .278" die would do it (only 9 thou in it) and I think I have a set of dies to fit my ERMA tool which you can borrow if you get stuck. pete10uk
Thanks Brian I've gone with a new Die with a .278 on it, your correct it's a nat's dangly bit difference but thanks for the offer of the lend. I also want to thank you for the blinders you sold me back in 2017 as I don't think I did. They are brilliant and used on a good number of jobs since. david.elsbury
We’ve moved to compression plugs on our cable; partly because it’s what Belden recommends; I understand that for 3G-SDI it’s a better connection than a traditional crimp one, and there’s less messing around to fit the plug. It would mean a new tool for you though...
