  1. Indeed, and they don't tend to be subjected to loud orchestras, PA, pyro effects and other vibrations that theatres are (which can't help)
  2. What about opensourcing the code ? publishing via something like github or similar ? I'd like to hope that someone revives a USB interface as most new computers aren't equipped with parallel ports
  3. Strange as it sounds - there's a few times this is useful - if I could record such an incident safely I might, as such evidence may help investigations as to the cause. This is quite commonplace, I believe the AAIB for example will actively ask passengers and any eye witnesses for video / photographs in the event of an accident. Obviously if it was a situation where I was able to help in some constructive way I wouldn't be standing with a video camera...
  4. Very impressive :) ... Do they still have the original fans in them ? I remember the Miniscan HPE being quite a noisy fixture. Is it a bit quieter now too ?
  5. There's a few products out there ... search for "Digital Festoon" and you'll find most of them - they pretty much all centre on having addressable lampholders and there being a controller at one end which converts DMX into some data-over-power format... There's also some RGB LED ones where the lamps themselves are the addressable component.
