485 + volts cable

I'm looking for some hundreds of metres of flex capable of repeated rolling out and being re-rolled to carry RS 485 and one core at +24v above screen, (probably maxing out at 250mA). It's essential that this terminates with XLR4.

Can anyone suggest a cable description and supplier please? It's probably like scroller cable but not the same pinout, and scroller cable seems to be long gone from the market, unless you have some reels to sell.

Stranded cat 5/6 is another option. In POE each pair would usually run up to 300mA (higher for some POE modes). Gang a pair each for the +ve and 0v line to keep volt drop under control. It's an off the shelf cheap option. Edited by J Pearce

Are you talking about hundreds of metres in a single run, if so 250mA at 24Vwill require a decent size conductor.

I'll guess Cat 5/6 is something in the order of 20Ω/100m loop resistance or 5V drop at 250mA and FST 15Ω/100m or 3.75V at 250mA

We used to get a 2 pair cable consisting of a twisted and screened pair of 7/0.02mm and an unscreened pair of 1.0 to 1.5mm2 from Batt Cables (4Ω/100m or 1v/100m). Be aware they have minumum invoice (£75 pre vat & delivery last time I used them) so be prepared to add some extra cable to make it up.

These are all 'experience' figures rather than looking them up. I'll make no apologies if I'm far out.
