  1. Hi. I have a Trantec s3500 handheld set that until recently was working fine but the receiver seems to have developed a fault. When you power the microphone the receiver stays on RF mute and the A and B indicator LEDs flick back and forth constantly as if there's interference. I've tried different transmitters, different frequencies and a second receiver and found the problem is specific to this one receiver. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before? I understand it's an old kit but I'd like to get it working again. Thanks
  2. Hiya folks! I've recently acquired 3 rather unloved Mac 500s - of which I've got 2 booting - to try and fix up as a little side project. So far most of the work has just been cleaning, oiling and reassembly but in the process some weird quirks have arisen so I figured I'd ask the hive mind! All fixtures are running software version 1.3 (I am going to update them to 2.0 but I'm still trying to get my hands on an updater tool). The strangest thing is on one of the fixtures which strikes its lamp and will not lamp off. I have 'auto strike' off and 'DMX lamp off' on but everytime the fixture is powered it strikes and won't turn off. I've even tried the onboard controls to lamp off and they don't do anything either. The lamp indicator on the front is lit so it knows its on. Any ideas? I saw something on a thread for mac 300s that they have a relay that sometimes gets stuck on so could that be it? The other problem may be an easier fix but the pan and tilt doesn't work on either of the booting fixtures. I've ordered some replacement drivers for the motors which I'm hoping will fix the issue but was just wondering if anyone knew of any other obvious steps I could try? When powered I can feel a stepped resistance if I try to move them so the motors seem to be receiving power. Aside from those issues all I'm facing is the standard sensor errors (hopefully fixable with a good clean) and the expected struggle to source parts (though thankfully they came with almost everything they need). I've done all sorts of little electronics projects and repairs but this is the first time taking on something this intricate so any handy tips or random documentation would be super helpful. Cheers.
  3. Hi guys. I'm working in a school at the moment which is in the process of making some pretty major upgrades to its theatre facilities. As part of this, we've aquired a beefy server from the it department which we'd like to convert into a media server to use with our projectors. As it stands, we have 3 projections (stage left, stage right and up stage) Our query is whether there is any free or cheap software that we ought to use. Our ideal setup would be to have a control computer in the control room and then connect the projectors either directly to the server or, even better, to stand alone machines that can then access the content on the server. Obviously our budget is basically non existent so I hope you can help. Thanks ?
  4. I've changed TR8 and all is working perfectly. ? I'll keep an eye on it incase the other transistors on the way out but it seems all good for now. Thanks for the help ?
  5. I've done some prodding around with a multimeter and it seems to be one of the transistors acting up. I've ordered a replacement so will see if that sorts it.
  6. Can we assume you have tried known working headsets with it? Headset failure is far more common than pack failure. Mac Yes, I've tried multiple working headsets to no avail
  7. So I'm currently trying to repair the unused (and quite broken) comms system at a school that I help out with to replace their current solution of cheapy walkie talkies. One of the belt-packs (tecpro BP111) is giving me quite a headache. When connected the microphone works fine, outputting through other packs but the headphones don't. There is no sound output from them of the connected mic or other packs in the loop. I've opened the pack up and can't see any clear component damage or bad soldering. My question is: has anyone had this problem before? Is there a common culprit? My assumption so far is that some component has failed but which one is it likely to be? Any help would be greatly appreciated as we simply don't have the money to buy replacements.
